Novel protein constituents of pathological ocular pseudoexfoliation syndrome deposits identified with mass spectrometry.
Conclusions: This study expands the understanding of the protein composition of pathological PEX material deposited on the ocular lens in patients with PEX syndrome and provides useful insights into the pathophysiology of this disease. In this study, general characteristics and health data were assessed using modified versions of Fried’s Frailty Phenotype (mFFP) and the Frail Non-Disabled (FiND) questionnaire (mFiND) to construct a Self-Organizing Map (SOM). Trained data, composed of the component planes of each variable, were visualized using 2-dimentional hexagonal grid maps. Low- and moderate-dose non-cancer effects of ionizing radiation in directly exposed individuals, especially circulatory and ocular diseases: a review of the epidemiology.
CONCLUSIONS: We document statistically significant excess risk of the major types of circulatory disease, specifically ischemic heart disease and stroke, in moderate- or low-dose exposed groups, with some not altogether consistent evidence suggesting dose response non-linearity, particularly for stroke. However, the patterns of risk reported are not straightforward. CONCLUSIONS: AMD, cataract and DRED but not glaucoma are associated with an increased risk of dementia. We report a case of occipital lobe epilepsy (OLE) in a patient with occipital lobe stroke whose diagnosis was complicated by homonymous hemianopsia. An 81-year-old woman presented with a complaint of “blurred vision” on the right side and was kept under outpatient observation at the Hirabayashi Eye Clinic for homonymous lower right hemianopsia, glaucoma, and post-cataract surgery. We present a case of extreme positioning for cataract surgery. The 68-year-old man was unable to lie flat and found it difficult to transfer from his motorized wheelchair. He had poor mobility due to a stroke, slept upright because of orthopnea, and his neck extension was poor.
