Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: Prevalence and Associated Stroke Risks in a Nationwide Cohort Study.
CONCLUSION:  Among all NVAF patients, 1.1% of patient has HCM. The risk of stroke in NVAF with HCM without any CHA2DS2-VASc stroke risk factors was similar to that of those patients without HCM with CHA2DS2-VASc score of 3. The use of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator in in acute ischemic stroke is associated with increased level of BDNF
This study was conducted on 47 patients presenting with acute ischemic stroke (during the first 4.5  h from stroke onset); 26 patients of them eligible for receiving rt-PA (patient group) and 21 patients having contraindications for treatment with rt-PA (control group). Neurological, radiological and laboratory assessment (including BDNF serum level) were done for both groups at stroke onset (bef ore receiving rt-PA) and at day 7. Cardio-embolic stroke: Lessons from a single centre in Sub-Saharan Africa.
CONCLUSION: CES accounted for 1/4 of ischemic stroke with a high risk of early death and long-term recurrence. Atrial fibrillation was the leading cause of CES. Stress-induced cardiomyopathy accompanied by heat stroke
We describe a case with high body temperature and coma, who also presented with wide QRS tachycardia and shock. He was initially treated for heat stroke and wide QRS tachycardia. Serial electrocardiographic change and echocardiographic findings suggested this was complicated with stress-induced cardiomyopathy. Left ventricular hypertrophy diagnosed after a stroke: a case report
ConclusionsElectrocardiogram diagnosis of left ventricular hypertrophy led to the diagnosis of apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in this patient. Left ventricular hypertrophy was only evident a few days after our patient suffered a stroke. The underlying mechanisms responsible for this remain unclear. Furthermore, differential diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy should be considered in people with electrocardiogram criteria for left ventricular hypertrophy.
