In conclusion, here, we demonstrate a novel mechanism for ESC-EVs to protect cells from senescence. However, whether ESC-EVs rejuvenate aged mice via miR-15b-5p and miR-290a-5p remains unknown. Next, we plan to use miR-15b-5p and miR-290a-5p antagonists while treating aged mice with ESC-EVs to further investigate the mechanism by which ESC-EVs resist aging in vivo. « Back to Top Fatty Acid Metabolism as a Commonality in Different Approaches to Slowing Aging https://www.fightaging.org/archives/2023/08/fatty-acid-metabolism-as-a-commonality-in-different-approaches-to-slowing-aging/ It seems...

Effects on Serum Hormone Concentrations after a Dietary Phytoestrogen Intervention in Patients with Prostate Cancer: A Randomized Controlled Trial
In conclusion, a high daily intake of phytoestrogen-rich foods has no major effect on hormone concentrations but may lower the concentration of estradiol in patients with prostate cancer with a specific genetic upset of ERβ.PMID:37049632 | DOI:10.3390/nu15071792

Estrogen receptors regulate galectin ‑3 in androgen‑independent DU‑145 prostate cancer cells
Oncol Rep. 2023 May;49(5):93. doi: 10.3892/or.2023.8530. Epub 2023 Mar 24.ABSTRACTThe aim of the present study was to investigate the role of estrogen receptor (ER)α and ERβ, and galectin‑3 (GAL‑3) in migration and invasion of androgen‑independent DU‑145 prostate cancer cells, and to examine the regulation of the expression of GAL‑3 by the activation of these receptors. Wound healing and cell invasion assays were performed using the control (basal level of cellular function) and treated DU‑145 cells. At 24 h of treatment, 17β‑estradiol (E2), the ERα‑selective agonist, 4,4',4"‑(4‑propyl‑(1H)‑pyra...

Adrenal steroids and resistance to hormonal blockade of prostate and breast cancer
Endocrinology. 2022 Dec 29:bqac218. doi: 10.1210/endocr/bqac218. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTProstate cancer and breast cancer are sex-steroid-dependent diseases that are driven in major part by gonadal sex steroids. Testosterone is converted to 5α-dihydrotestosterone, both of which stimulate the androgen receptor (AR) and prostate cancer progression. Estradiol is the major stimulus for estrogen receptor (ER)-α and proliferation of ERα-expressing breast cancer. However, the human adrenal provides an alternative source for sex steroids. A number of different androgens are produced by the adrenals, the most abundant of ...

Effects of estradiol on bone in men undergoing androgen deprivation therapy: a randomised placebo-controlled trial
CONCLUSION: Relative to placebo, E2 treatment increases some measures of bone density and bone strength in men and reduces bone remodelling, effects that occur in absence of endogenous T.PMID:35666800 | DOI:10.1530/EJE-22-0227

Sex Steroid Hormones in Urinary Exosomes as Biomarkers for the Prediction of Prostate Cancer
CONCLUSION: Our data showed the use of exosomal sex steroids in urine could be as biomarkers for predicting PCa for the first time. This finding would supply a novel insight for PCa diagnosis.PMID:35487250 | DOI:10.1016/j.cca.2022.04.995

Estrogen Receptor Expression is Modulated in Human and Mouse Prostate Epithelial Cells during Cancer Progression
Steroids. 2022 Apr 9:109036. doi: 10.1016/j.steroids.2022.109036. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSubstantial data posit estrogen receptors (ERs) as promising targets for prostate cancer (PCa) therapeutics. However, the trials on assessing the chemo-preventive ortherapeutic potentialofER targeting drugs or selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) have not yet established their clinical benefits. This could be ascribed to a possible modulation in the ER expression during PCa progression. Further it is warranted to test various ER targeting drugs in appropriate preclinical models that simulate human ER expression pattern...

Effect of estradiol on cognition in men undergoing androgen deprivation therapy: a randomized placebo-controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: We found no major effects of estradiol on cognition in men with castrate testosterone concentrations. Although the cognitive effects of ADT are debated, this study suggests that any such effects are unlikely to be prevented by administration of estradiol. This article is protected by copyright.
