In conclusion, here, we demonstrate a novel mechanism for ESC-EVs to protect cells from senescence. However, whether ESC-EVs rejuvenate aged mice via miR-15b-5p and miR-290a-5p remains unknown. Next, we plan to use miR-15b-5p and miR-290a-5p antagonists while treating aged mice with ESC-EVs to further investigate the mechanism by which ESC-EVs resist aging in vivo. « Back to Top Fatty Acid Metabolism as a Commonality in Different Approaches to Slowing Aging https://www.fightaging.org/archives/2023/08/fatty-acid-metabolism-as-a-commonality-in-different-approaches-to-slowing-aging/ It seems...

Lactic acidosis after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation potentially related to letermovir
Br J Clin Pharmacol. 2023 Feb 7. doi: 10.1111/bcp.15686. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 53-year-old woman with a history of acute myeloid leukemia received a second allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) and was prescribed, among other medications, acyclovir and letermovir (480 mg daily oral dose) for prophylaxis of respectively herpes simplex and cytomegalovirus infection. The patient was admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) for dyspnoea and oliguria. Laboratory investigations revealed acute kidney injury, but also a severe and progressive lactic acidosis. Liver function tests were within normal range. ...

CT-347 Acute Graft-Versus-Host Disease: Risk Scoring and Response to Treatment, Experience From Two Centers
CONCLUSIONS: Both scores give complementary information. Minnesota HR and Magic grade IV GVHD patients are less likely to respond to steroids and have higher mortality risks than lower grades.PMID:36164219 | DOI:10.1016/S2152-2650(22)01666-4

Mogamulizumab for post-transplant relapse of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma: a case study
Int J Hematol. 2022 Sep 9. doi: 10.1007/s12185-022-03447-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMogamulizumab (MOG), a humanized monoclonal anti-CCR4 antibody, exerts strong antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxic effects on CCR4-positive adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) cells. As CCR4 is highly expressed on regulatory T cells as well as ATLL cells, pre-transplant MOG induces severe graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). However, limited data are available on post-transplant use of MOG for relapsed ATLL. Here we describe the case of a patient with ATLL who experienced post-transplant relapse with involvement of peripheral blood, s...

Acute Myeloid Leukaemia following Direct Acting Antiviral drugs in HCV-infected patients: a 10 years' retrospective single-center study
CONCLUSION: AML seemed more frequent after using DAA treatments, notably in severe HCV patients including cirrhotic and/or liver transplanted patients. A multicentric observational study is ongoing to confirm and explore the results.PMID:35933093 | DOI:10.1016/j.clinre.2022.102000

A systematic review of recent trends in research on therapeutically significant L-asparaginase and acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Mol Biol Rep. 2022 Jul 10. doi: 10.1007/s11033-022-07688-4. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTL-asparaginases are mostly obtained from bacterial sources for their application in the therapy and food industry. Bacterial L-asparaginases are employed in the treatment of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and its subtypes, a type of blood and bone marrow cancer that results in the overproduction of immature blood cells. It also plays a role in the food industry in reducing the acrylamide formed during baking, roasting, and frying starchy foods. This importance of the enzyme makes it to be of constant interest to the researchers to...

Case Report: Hyperammonemic Encephalopathy Linked to Ureaplasma spp. and/or Mycoplasma hominis Systemic Infection in Patients Treated for Leukemia, an Emergency Not to Be Missed
ConclusionHyperammonemic encephalopathy linked to Ureaplasma spp. and M. hominis is a rare complication encountered in immunocompromised patients treated for acute leukemia, which can lead to death if unrecognized. Combining our experience with the few published cases (n=4), we observed a strong trend among female patients and very high levels of ammonia, consistently uncontrolled by classical measures (ammonia-scavenging agents and/or continuous kidney replacement therapy). The reversibility of the encephalopathy without sequelae is possible with prompt diagnosis and adequate combined specific antibiotherapy. Any neurolog...

Conclusion: These assays are suitable for routine diagnostic. The UltraFast NextGenPCR is the fastest with average time (30mins), followed by Agilent (2 hrs) and MassArray (6hrs). Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to examine, measure and compare results from different assays for SARS detection, evaluate and diagnose accurately, as well as being able to plan, organize and recommend a diagnostic procedure for diagnostic laboratory. Key words: SARS-CoV-2, RNA extraction, RT-PCR, limit of detection, quantification cycle, COVID-19, in vitro diagnostic tests, Agilent, Massarray, Ultrafast. [20] From t...
