Effects of pulmonary rehabilitation in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation recipients: a randomized controlled study
ConclusionPulmonary function, inspiratory muscle strength and endurance, and QOL preserved after HSCT. Expiratory muscle strength and maximal exercise capacity decreased even though PR during HSCT. Breathing reserve and restriction improved in the PR  + IMT group. In addition, minute ventilation and dyspnea were preserved in the PR + IMT group, while these values were worsened during two structured PR programs. Therefore, PR should be applied in accordance with the patient’s current clinical and hematologic status to patients undergoin g HSCT.ClinicalTrials.gov (19/07/2018, NCT03625063). Association between sputum culture results and pulmonary changes in children with cystic fibrosis
CONCLUSION: Severity of lung involvement in CF children is clearly dependent to mucoid P. aeruginosa colonization in airways and this notorious bacterium is the most prevalent one in Iranian CF children. Prompt identification and eradication by proper nebulized and systemic antibiotics can have valueless effects on patients' quality of life and prevent lifelong destructive complications such as bronchiectasis. Timely lung CT scan wisely advised by expert CF treatment team can meticulously detect injuries and it seems to act more efficacious than -still helpful-clinical scores and pulmonary function tests.PMID:38156305 | PM...

Is there a synergistic relationship between diaphragm and pelvic floor muscles in pregnant women?
CONCLUSION: There may be a synergistic relationship between the diaphragm and PFM in pregnant women, the relationship may weaken as pregnancy progresses, and there may be no coactivation relationship between the two muscles. In order to prevent the occurrence of pelvic floor dysfunction during pregnancy and to increase the effect of rehabilitation programs, the relationship between the diaphragm and the PFM should be determined and more studies should be conducted.PMID:38157829 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2023.12.023 (Source: Reproductive Biology)
