Doing Biotech post PharmD
Hi! I've been reading a lot about people saying that pharma is super saturated when it comes to retail pharmacy and how hard it is to get hospital residency but I'm not interested in any of these stuff. I am more interested in industry pharmacy where I can work in drug design or pharmacy politics (idk what it's formally called but like drug policies and government work). I've been reading that its really helpful having a PharmD and a masters in biotech but the issue is that I am currently a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Retail RPh to Medical Info Spec
Hello, I have been looking for Medical Information Specialist position for a while now in CRO and Pharma companies but had no luck. Recently, I interviewed and got an offer at a recruiting agency to work for another pharma company as a Medical Info Spec. I am going from a retail pharmacy (4 yrs) to Medical Info Spec. There will be a huge pay cut (~$20/hr and ~$20k/yr), and the perks are that I get to work from home, no weekends, get an hour lunch break, etc. I know that I will not be able... Pharma opportunites
Hi, I'm a Pharmacist from the UK with several years of hospital and retail experience. I am also a Pharmacist in NY currently working in retail, and have also had a few years experience as a hospital Intern. After making the move from London to NY, I was out of the work force for a couple of years due to trying to complete the exams and starting a family etc etc. However, after working a couple of years in NY, I was wondering about making a career change and applying to jobs in the Pharma... Pharmaceutical work experience as a Pre-Med during gap year
I was thinking of working in the pharmaceutical industry during my gap year. Do adcoms see experience in the pharmaceutical industry and drug development of value? Does it fall into the same category as research since it is largely hypothesis-driven work in the drug dev process? (patient safety, clinical trial design, digital medicine) I have interned in pharma before and was super interested in working as a physician in the industry. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

why no APM for medical oncology?
why no APM for medonc? in the big picture, doesn't the cost of medonc care significantly exceed the cost of radonc care? is the medonc-allied pharma lobby just so strong that they can prevent a medonc APM? is radonc APM just a pawn or smokescreen in a bigger scheme? sorry so many questions, just hungover from NYE still (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Working in pharma
Wondering if anyone here works in pharma full time. I’m interested in what kind of roles radiologists can have. Also how did you transition from clinic to pharma. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Applying to Residency & Fellowship at the Same Time
Hello everyone! Some background info about myself - I am currently a 3rd year pharmacy student in SoCal and have a variety of experiences working in industry and pharmacy settings. I worked for 4 years at Baxter and Gilead/Kite Pharma then went into pharmacy school and did my retail and inpatient rotations. On top of this, I did work at CVS pharmacy for a summer then worked for a year at a Skilled Nursing Pharmacy. Right now, I just started working at a hospital as an intern. With that... What are the barriers to rad onc doing more radiopharm?
Inspired to ponder by this NCI page: Radiopharmaceuticals Emerging as New Cancer Therapy Rad oncs constantly complain about how we don’t have a pharma industry to fund our trials. Well here it is, and facilitated by the NCI. What are the barriers to rad onc getting into this? We should own radiation therapeutics and diversify practice, especially in the face of hypofrac... Sugammadex Usage / Cost versus Benefit
Wondering what the thoughts/opinions/practices are regarding use of Sugammadex for : routine reversal (does this warrant the cost?) reversal in a limited patient population (what patient risk factors?) based off of select procedures (what procedures?) emergency reversal of a cannot intubate/cannot ventilate no use at all based off of hospital formulary denial Understood that the cost of sugammadex versus neostigmine plus glyco varies with hospital negotiations/pharma contacts. Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Looking into part time or full time non clinical work after residency. Which specialty is better?
Hey all, I am really considering looking into non clinical work as a physician, whether it be for pharma, biotech, but tbh 1) I don’t really know where to start looking about the types of jobs out there. Are there any good resources? 2) which specialty would offer me the most opportunities, currently looking between Family Med and Psych. I see myself practicing part time 1-2 days a week, but would love to work for a company working towards bigger picture goals as well. Whether that be in... Talking about a partisan political organization in a secondary
I am currently writing Loyola's secondary about social justice. During college, I was on the E-Board for our school's college democrats chapter and we did a lot of health policy activities like writing letters to our reps to urge them to vote no on harmful big pharma bills. I really want to be able to write about this experience because I think it fits well with the social justice theme. Is it bad if I explicitly mention my participation in the college democrats? It is already in my primary... Talking about a partisan political organization in a secondary (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Fresh grad: got a job in big pharma, plus working towards another degree, should i bother getting licensed as a pharmacist at all??
Recently got an industry job offer at a big pharma (starts with a G), paying low six-figure salary, as a super fresh PharmD grad. I am very excited and happy for sure, especially during a national crisis with ever increasing ~20% unemployment rate (could very well hit 30% if lock-down continues for another month or two, urghhhhhhh). I will be working towards another masters degree (cs/data science related) at a top school in my spare time, which is very likely fully reimbursed by my employer...
