Anyone have experience in pharma labeling?
Hello, I am looking at an offer from a big pharma company. The position is technically label management, with focus in clinical trial labeling. I am having a difficult time in interpreting what exactly the day to day would look like for this position. Does anyone have experience or know of this role? I am coming without industry experience (currently hospital - clinical w/PharmD) and so trying to get a foot in the door. The position is located on the East Coast, and offer is full time... Classifying Psychiatric Illness
Hi all, Random musings of a soon-to-be graduating resident. I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are on disease classification and nosology. Obviously, there is great (patient and Pharma) demand for new therapies for "existing" illnesses as defined in DSM-5, and a lot of financial and academic work turns on these therapies being investigated and clinically used. But the cynical part of me thinks, "psilocybin and ketamine and Zuranolone and Trintellix augmented with Caplyta and exercise... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MCAT preparation with a full time job and part-time classes
Hi there, I'm planning to apply for MD programs next year. I've done some research and it seems I should take MCAT before this September or Next Jan. Currently, I have one full-time job as a scientist at a pharma company and taking 3 premed classes (General Chem 2, General Physics 2, Writing) for the pre-requisites part-time. I was wondering if there's anyone in a similar situation and what's your MCAT preparation plan? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pharma for pharmacists
With so many people graduating from pharmacy school, are there alot of positions in Pharma? Many pharmacists don't want to work retail, but are there enough pharma positions for them? What do pharmacists do in Pharma? Research? Do they need another degree too? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Industry job Hunt, Interviews, and Offers
Part 1: Pfizer Compensation.......in San Diego Part 2: Hottest Pharma/Biotech job market in the last 20 years? I am currently based on the west coast, in a very expensive COL geographic area, looking to relocate to East Coast. I started job hunting in mid-Nov, working with several recruiters for ~15 east coast/remote opportunities, and I am happy to say that I just accepted a job offer (155k base + 15% bonus + 62k RSU + 5k relocation + 3% 401k match, etc) for a company of... Hottest Pharma/Biotech job market in the last 20 years?
Update from the last post: Pfizer Compensation.......in San Diego I have been interviewing left and right since last week, averaging phone/video 2 interviews per day, and more headhunters are still coming in asking about my availability and interest in other opportunities. I am not sure about other people's experiences, but this is definitely not something I have anticipated at beginning of my job search... Is the pharma/biotech hiring surge this red hot right now? I am scheduled to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Anyone have personal success or know of a colleague transitioning to a part time or full time non-clinical role (biotech, pharma, healthcare admin)? Any potential avenues for physicians in anesthesiology to explore these alternative careers? Thanks in advance! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pfizer Compensation.......in San Diego
Hi guys I was recently approached by a headhunter from NYC, for a manager, clinical pharmacology & pharmacometrics position at Pfizer, based in San Diego, CA. The guy over the phone told me the compensation would be in the 120-140k ballpark. Does anyone have any data points or information to help me decide if this is competitive or not? I have ~2 years of big pharma in-field work experience. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Transition from PBM to Pharma?
Hi All, currently I am working in the PBM space, as as a Clinical Program Senior Manager. I am approaching 9 years now working in the PBM industry and am very interested in transitioning to Pharma. Are there any peers here that have made a similar transition? Or any in the pharma industry willing to connect to help shed insight into candidacy for Senior Manager/Associate Director level position within Pharma? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What are careers like going from academic heme/onc to pharma?
I'm an MD/PhD student at an upper mid-tier school. COVID ran a bulldozer through my PhD and it's looking like I'll graduate with 6-7 basic science papers to my name, 3-4 first author, nothing in super high impact journals. My chances of being a PI at a high-tier institution without extra post-doc time look slim. My advisors are pushing me towards professorship at a lower- or mid-tier institution, but these environments are often poorly funded and my capacity to do impactful work there feels... Is Gilead a good company to work for?
Hi guys Just a little background: I am a former pharmacist, but my current job is in a primaily bioinformatics/data science role in pharma, and I have been contemplating making a formal switch to tech (data scientist, data engineer, and sde positions) for quite some time now, primarily due to their perceived higher pay haha. In the past week, I got two Linkedin messages from Gilead recruiters inquiring about my interest in their R&D research scientists positions. I don't know anyone who... Go with Industry offer or keep studying?
Hey all, recent pharmacy grad here. Long story short, I took both the NAPLEX and MPJE, but failed both of them on the first attempt. I've also been applying to jobs for a couple months now, but very few have called back for interviews but no offers. I was beyond frustrated, especially not passing the license exams. However, I did receive an interview, and ultimately an offer, with a well known pharma/healthcare company for a QC position. My question is, should I go through with this offer... Should we trust the vaccines?
And hear me out on this, there is really one reason I am hesitant. It's because big pharma is not trust worthy. They will do anything and everything for a dollar. I have yet to get a shot, my school requires one, but which one is more safe? The JJ is more of a traditional vaccine, while less efficacious, and with marginally higher short term risks, a traditional vaccine might have less future problems than a newly developed mRNA vaccine. Is there any past long term things showing mRNA... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Recruiters/Hiring agency?
What hiring agencies/recruiting services are good for someone seeking a way into the pharma industry or managed care industry? I've tried LinkedIn and haven't found much help from it with many of them being scammers/fakes. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Investments and ethics
I’ve seen this in other health professional threads so curious to see how some view this: Is it ethical to invest in big pharma stocks? Is it ethical to invest in stocks that profit off psychiatric conditions or medical conditions that may, at least indirectly, impact the patient /clients we see? I’ve also seen stocks involved in for profit psychiatric hospitals. How do others approach this and would you consider this as unethical? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
