Frozen Shoulder - a short review for the practice
Praxis (Bern 1994). 2024 Mar;113(3):68-73.ABSTRACTThe Frozen Shoulder is a frequently encountered pathology in clinical practice. This condition often coexists with various comorbidities and is characterized by severe pain and a significantly restricted motion of the affected shoulder. A limited passive external rotation with the arm in adduction, with no signs of any other pathology that could explain the finding, such as shoulder osteoarthritis or an undetected posterior dislocation, is pathognomonic. The course of the disease typically spans over one to two years and is usually self-limiting. In the vast majority of cas...

The impact of diabetes on physical and mental health status and patient satisfaction after total hip and knee arthroplasty
ConclusionsFindings support that diabetes has a negative impact on improvements in physical health after TJA. Considering the growing prevalence of OA and diabetes in the population, our findings support the importance of perioperative screening and management of diabetes in patients undergoing TJA. Comprehensive Guidance for the Prevention of Periprosthetic Joint Infection After Total Joint Arthroplasty and Pitfalls in the Prevention
J Korean Med Sci. 2024 Apr 22;39(15):e147. doi: 10.3346/jkms.2024.39.e147.ABSTRACTTotal joint arthroplasty (TJA) is a surgical procedure, in which parts of damaged joints are removed and replaced with a prosthesis. The main indication of TJA is osteoarthritis, and the volume of TJA is rising annually along with the increase of aged population. Hip and knee are the most common joints, in which TJAs are performed. The TJA prosthesis is composed of metal, plastic, or ceramic device. Even though TJA is the most successful treatment for end-stage osteoarthritis, it is associated with various complications, and periprosthetic jo...
