Interaction Between Tacrolimus and Proton Pump Inhibitor in a Kidney Transplant Recipient
Exp Clin Transplant. 2024 Jan;22(Suppl 1):354-355. doi: 10.6002/ect.MESOT2023.P89.ABSTRACTWe aimed to present a drug monitoring profile of tacrolimus and proton pump inhibitor coadministration in a 23-year-old male patient with a history of high blood pressure who underwent kidney transplant. The patient's serum trough levels of tacrolimus were in the therapeutic range until omeprazole 20 mg daily was prescribed. Tacrolimus trough serum level increased to 29.5 ng/mL under the same daily dose and to 13.9 ng/mL after tacrolimus daily dose was decreased to 6 mg/day. This increase in tacrolimus serum level was behind a renal f...

The safety and efficacy of Houtou Jianweiling tablet in patients with chronic non-atrophic gastritis: a double-blind, non-inferiority, randomized controlled trial
Conclusion: The lower limit of confidence interval (CI, 95%) for the differences in the effective rate between the treatment and the control groups was found to be −0.0781 which is greater than −0.15, hence the treatment group is non-inferior to the control group. The therapeutic dosage used in the trial and treatment period did not cause any significant adverse event, and there were no obvious changes in the ECG profile, vital signs and biochemistry of the patients. Based on the clinical efficacy evaluation and reported adverse events, it can be concluded that the HTJWT is a safe and effective traditional chinese medi...

Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 880: Dendrobium officinale Polysaccharides as a Natural Functional Component for Acetic-Acid-Induced Gastric Ulcers in Rats
In this study, DOP was extracted and characterized for its structural properties. The potential of DOP to ameliorate gastric ulcers (GUs) was investigated using an acetic-acid-induced GU model in rats. The results demonstrated that DOP exerted a multifaceted protective effect against GU, mitigating the deleterious impact on food intake and body weight in rats. DOP exhibited its protective action by attenuating cellular damage attributed to oxidative stress and inflammatory reactions mediated by enhanced activities of SOD, GSH, and GSH-PX, coupled with a downregulation in the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, includ...

Use of physiologically ‐based pharmacokinetic modeling to understand the effect of omeprazole administration on the pharmacokinetics of oral extended‐release nifedipine
This study used physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK ) modeling and simulations to investigate the underlying mechanism of these complex DDIs. A formulation exhibiting differences in in vitro dissolution across physiological pH range and another formulation where pH does not impact dissolution appreciably (e.g., an osmotic pump) were chosen to charac terize the potential impact of pH. The PBPK models incorporated two-stage in vitro release profiles via US Pharmacopeia 2 apparatus. PBPK simulations suggest that the elevated gastric pH following multiple-dose administration of omeprazole has a minimal effect on nife...

Evaluation of Appropriate Use of Proton Pump Inhibitors in Non-critically Ill Patients in Tertiary Medical Center: A Retrospective Study
CONCLUSION: The findings show a high trend of inappropriate PPI prescriptions. Hence, educational programs are recommended to encourage healthcare professionals to stick to the approved guidelines when prescribing PPIs.PMID:38347790 | DOI:10.2174/0115748863284762240129092556 (Source: Current Drug Safety)
