Pain after laminotomy lead
Morbidly obese 59 yo patient s/p lumbar 4-5 and L5-S1 discectomy followed by two failed PLIF. Never fused. Was off of opioids prior to SCS trial. Had successful trial and was implanted with thoracic paddle lead by experienced neurosurgeon. Complaining of burning sensation and intermittent intense spasm in area of implant (paddle) since surgery. Surgeon prescribes hydromorphone and valium. Advice Post MPH
Hi everyone! So I was accepted to vet school for Fall of 2016 (yay!) but after a lot of personal soul searching and discussions with my wife I have decided that I would rather go into public health. I have been accepted to the University of West Florida's MPH and am pretty excited about it. Why am I not going to vet school? Obesity is a major concern to me and I find that I am much more passionate about prevention and education in that field than I think I would be in the veterinary field.... Lets see how people approach this case. 3-5 yo pt with history of asthma. Had an episode of RSV one month ago with residual cough up until 2 weeks ago. Currently doing well, afebrile and mild cough but not much different from his usual status. Hasn't used albuterol in over a week. Posted for BMT & adenoids at out-pt surgery center. What interests me is how I am being put at relative risk as well as inconvenience by the latter.  2 examples in health care. 1) For x-rays the standard exposure means an overdiagnosis of bone thinning.
