CRNA and ASA IV or V patients?
Hi I am a medical student from Poland. I want to be an anesthesiologist, so I started reading about the work of anesthesiologists in different countries. I was surprised to see on IG that CRNAs in the USA are practicing independently. In Europe, there always must be one anaesthesiologist and nurse in the operating room. MD gives the orders and he decides about treatment. I was on an internship in Norway where ASA 1 or 2 patients (even a student would be able to do it) are anesthetized by a... Why are we giving ECFMG status to those countries that have not fully recognized the DO?
Because of the UN recognition in 2018, lots of doors have been opening up for DOs internationally. 88 countries have been approached and 85 of them have given us full recognition. France, Barbados, and slightly Norway has restricted us to OMM. The limit used to exist in some other African countries, which have been fixed by the AMCOA convention in 2019 after the UN recognition. Americans have given ECFMG recognition to France's Diplôme de Formation Approfondie en Sciences Médicales... Why are we giving ECFMG status to those countries that have not fully recognized the DO?
