What a pain in the … back: a review of current treatment options with a focus on naproxen sodium
J Pharm Pharm Sci. 2024 Feb 7;27:12384. doi: 10.3389/jpps.2024.12384. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTNon-specific low back pain (LBP) represents a challenging and prevalent condition that is one of the most common symptoms leading to primary care physician visits. While established guidelines recommend prioritizing non-pharmacological approaches as the primary course of action, pharmacological treatments are advised when non-pharmacological approaches are ineffective or based on patient preference. These guidelines recommend non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or skeletal muscle relaxers (SMRs) as the first-line pharm...

Analgesic onset and efficacy of a fast-acting formulation of acetaminophen in a postoperative dental impaction pain model
CONCLUSIONS: Both studies suggested FA-acetaminophen had faster onset of action compared to ES-acetaminophen and LG-Ibuprofen. In light of the difference in TCPR and TMPR results between Study 1 and 2, an additional study is needed to further investigate time to analgesic onset of FA-acetaminophen compared with ES-acetaminophen and LG-Ibuprofen.STUDY REGISTRY NUMBERS: Study 1: NCT02735122; Study 2: NCT03224403.PMID:38124555 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2023.2294946 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)

A randomized, double-blind pilot study of analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of naproxen sodium and acetaminophen following dental implant placement surgery
Discussion: Naproxen sodium was more effective than acetaminophen in reducing post-operative pain and systemic inflammation following surgical placement of one or two dental implants. Further studies are needed to determine whether these findings are applicable to more complex implant cases and how they affect clinical outcomes following implant placement.Clinical Trial Registration:ClinicalTrials.gov, identifier NCT04694300 (Source: Frontiers in Pharmacology)

High efficiency and rapid treatment of naproxen sodium wastewater by dielectric barrier discharge coupled with catalysis
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Apr 25. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-27125-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPharmaceutical wastewater has the characteristics of high organic concentration and poor biodegradability, which will cause serious environmental pollution when discharged into water bodies. In this work, naproxen sodium was used to simulate pharmaceutical wastewater by dielectric barrier discharge technology. The effects of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) and combined catalysis on the removal of naproxen sodium solution were studied. The removal effect of naproxen sodium was affected by discharge conditions, includin...
