NSAIDs and Renal Impairment: Deprescribing Chronic NSAID use in General Practice
Conclusion NSAIDs are commonly implicated in inappropriate prescribing. Clinicians are encouraged to practice de-prescribing at every opportunity. Recent evidence suggests that pharmacy-led educational interventions can further assist de-prescribing of inappropriate medicines. Thus, a close collaboration between physicians and pharmacists is encouraged to further maximise quality of prescribing and patient care.PMID:35863072 (Source: Ir Med J)

Three weeks of Indomethacin is not superior to 1 week of Meloxicam as prophylaxis for heterotopic ossifications after distal biceps tendon repair with a single incision technique.
The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of 3 weeks of Indomethacin, a non-selective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), in comparison to 1 week of meloxicam as prophylaxis for heterotopic ossifications (HO) after distal biceps tendon repair. Pharmacokinetics of combined administration of iron dextran with meloxicam or flunixin meglumine in piglets
CONCLUSION: Relative bioavailability of meloxicam and flunixin meglumine were reduced when compounded with ID in the same bottle and administered to piglets.CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Further research is warranted to evaluate if decreased NSAID exposure when compounded with ID alters analgesic efficacy or drug residue depletion.PMID:35784780 | PMC:PMC9207966 (Source: The Canadian Veterinary Journal)
