Roles of Hospital Type and Community Setting in Rate of Screening for Metabolic Disorders Among Psychiatric Patients
CONCLUSIONS: Despite common resource limitations, screening for metabolic disorders may be driven more by logistics and less by time, finances, or a community's primary care network. Identifying the specific logistical challenges of freestanding psychiatric facilities could aid in the development of targeted interventions to improve the rates of screening for and treatment of not only metabolic disorders but also other common comorbid conditions.PMID:38566560 | DOI:10.1176/appi.ps.20230472 (Source: Psychiatric Services)

Atrial Fibrillation Management During Surgical vs Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement
CONCLUSIONS: In Medicare beneficiaries with AF requiring aortic valve replacement, SAVR+AF was associated with improved longitudinal survival and freedom from stroke compared to TAVR. Predictors of persistent opioid use in bladder cancer patients undergoing radical cystectomy: A SEER-Medicare analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Non-opioid naïve patients have higher rates of post-operative opioid prescription than opioid-naïve patients. Physician prescribing practices play a role in persistent use, as initial prescription amount predicts persistent use even in non-opioid naïve patients.
