Declining reimbursements
Hi guys, I have been a pharmacist for about 8 years and hate it. Thinking of going into a med school and getting into family practice field. What worries me, is that there is such a decline in reimbursements by Medicare that on many drugs we lose money. You would think it would be the case with medicine in general, right? What do you guys see in your practice? I am interested in monetary implications. I would not want to spend all these money on med school and then earn 30K per year... ( I... Medicare advantage vs traditional
Hey. This message is being written from my phone so I apologize for the brevity. This post is most relevant for private practice. There are variety of Medicare advantage plans in my area. One pays somewhere along the lines of 30-40+% less than traditional Medicare. I'm wondering if this is just a low paying plan or if perhaps somewhere along the way my office failed to negotiate or is doing something else wrong. Thoughts? (Thanks in advance for feedback, commentary, ideas, jokes about... Medicare advantage vs traditional (Source: Student Doctor Network)

genicular nerve block coding
hi guys. i'm having some issues getting coverage of genicular nerve blocks and RF. I bill 64450 x 1 for the block and 64640 for the RF. Medicare recently denied a claim, stating it is not a medical necessity based on my local coverage determination. Have you guys encountered this before and, if so, how did you end up dealing with it? thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

RFA billing
In fellowship, I was told that you could bill at most for MBB or RFA either 4 nerves unilaterally or 3 nerves bilaterally. One of my co-workers told me that a bilateral RFA (in this case, C3-5) would not get paid. Is this true? What is your experience with this? FYI this patient was medicare. Elizabeth Warren’s plan to pay for Medicare-for-all, explained She shows how she would pay for it without raising middle class taxes. www.vox.com Seems like this will be hitting physicians directly, at least based on this explanation, what are people's thoughts about this and the impact it will have on students trying to pay of their loans? Article: Would ‘Medicare for All’ really save money?
Interesting article in Politico about the M4A debate -- commentators include both liberal and conservative thinkers. Regardless, the below stuck out to me, and wanted to know what others think of this line of thinking? I've already rotated with an anesthesiology group, where CRNAs are working independently on many cases, but the author (and did some background research on him) seems to advocate... Medicare B Rx Reimbursements
I was wondering if anyone could provide more information on how much Medicare B reimburses pharmacies for filling prescriptions of diabetic testing supplies, nebulizer solutions, and insulin for pumps. Medicare for All Specialties
What specialties do you expect will be hit the least/most by Medicare for All? I am sure that an outright passage of the bill is unlikely, but in any case I think the country will become more accepting of the idea in the coming decades. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Medicare rates
Saw the ASA email recently about their plan to fight the 28% medicare to commercial reimbursement for anesthesiologists. I've heard this mentioned a few times on this forum, about the unfair reimbursements. Trying to learn more about this since i know nothing about billing. Doesnt this happen to a lot of specialties? Private insurance often pays >2x medicare dont they? do we get paid the lowest by medicare compared to commercial? And why did this happen to us? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Specialist OTD trying to work in private- Australia
Hi, I'm an overseas trained specialist, holding a limited registration for postgraduate or supervised training (specialist recognition) from the AHPRA. They have limited my areas of work as per my contract and my employer is in private sector. After relocating to Australia with my family, my employer told that I need a Medicare provider number to start working. The Medicare sent my application form to Department of Health - 19AB to ask for an exemption. Since my employer is in...
