Anthony J. Lanza, Silicosis and the Gauley Bridge 'Nine'
This article scrutinises for the first time the role of Dr A. J. Lanza (a medical director of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company) in hiding the extent of acute silicosis amongst the tunnellers. Lanza and his allies in the medical profession were able to impose their own interpretation on events at Gauley Bridge. Felsing, who was replaced in late 2004 as chief executive officer at the state’s largest health insurer UnitedHealthcare of Wisconsin Inc., launched his own health insurance firm in 2007. Trilogy Health Insurance, Brookfield, never gained a significant foothold in its target small-employer-group market and exited the business in January. US Health and Life Insurance Co. of Sterling… (Source: bizjournals.com Health Care:Pharmaceuticals headlines)
