Trichotillomania Incognito: Two Case Reports and Literature Review
Trichotillomania is a compulsive disorder characterized by repetitive hairpulling. It is an important cause of patchy alopecia, especially in children between 9 and 13 years of age. The aim of this paper is to report 2 pediatric cases presenting with trichotillomania without patches. This condition may be extremely distressful, impacting psychosocial development of children. In these case reports, we reinforce the relevance of trichoscopy in hair disorder evaluation, which allowed early recognition to better advise and conduct these unique pediatric cases.Skin Appendage Disord (Source: Skin Appendage Disorders)

Excellent Response of Dermatophytoma and Nail Splitting to Nail Plate Debridement Plus Topical Ciclopirox Olamine 1% Solution
Onychomycosis often presents as thickened, discolored nails. Usually, one or both great toenails are affected. Eventually, the nail plate becomes friable and may split and break up, often due to trauma or invasion of the plate by dermatophytes that have keratolytic properties. Dermatophytoma is a unique feature of onychomycosis that occurred by abundant fungal filaments and spores forming a fungal ball under the nail plate. It is often refractory to traditional therapy. Based on the clinical and mycological examination, a case of onychomycosis in a 45-year-old woman presented as dermatophytoma with longitudinal nail splitt...

Panitumumab-Induced Paronychia: A Case Report and a Brief Review of the Literature
Panitumumab is a recombinant, fully humanized IgG2 monoclonal antibody targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Panitumumab is indicated for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer with progressive refractory disease. Targeted therapies are well known to be well tolerated; however, they may induce toxicities that are distinct from those of classical chemotherapeutic agents. For instance, EGFR inhibitors (EGFRIs) are associated with some specific dermatological adverse effects, one of which is nail toxicity. Since panitumumab is fully humanized, unlike most of the other EGFRIs, it has been reported to have ...

Nail Disease: Clinical Decisions among Portuguese Dermatologists and Family Physicians
Onychomycosis is one of the most common nail disorders and may be difficult to distinguish from other causes of nail dystrophy, based on clinical grounds alone. With this study, we aimed to describe the use of fungal testing by dermatologists and family physicians in their daily current practice, analyze their respective familiarity with nail disease diagnosis, and ultimately treatment decision-making by both groups. An online survey was distributed among Portuguese dermatologists, trainees, and family physicians by email. The survey focused on the diagnostic impression, use of diagnostic methods to confirm a fungal infect...
