Effect of respiratory muscle endurance training on performance and respiratory function in professional cyclists during the off-season
CONCLUSIONS: Using RMT during off-season benefits professional road cyclists by improving the major efficiency of respiratory function during progressive efforts. Therefore, the protocol of RMT could be used as an ergogenic aid during this period in order to maintain respiratory adaptations, optimizing the pre-season training. Adjustments can be made to improve the parameters outcomes.PMID:38059653 | DOI:10.23736/S0022-4707.23.15438-7 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)

Analysis of an Unselected Patient Cohort With Advanced Colorectal Carcinoma from a Maximum Care Center
CONCLUSION: Patient age, sex, primary tumor localization, and metastatic sites are prognostic factors that could guide future treatment decisions for the therapy of metastatic CRC.PMID:38030166 | DOI:10.21873/anticanres.16761 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)

Attenuation of the increase of heart rate and oxygen consumption during progressive exercise in professional rugby players
CONCLUSIONS: The speed/oxygen uptake and S/HR relationships during progressive exercise start to attenuate at a coincident exercise intensity, and at oxygen uptake values strongly correlated with the ventilatory threshold. These findings further support the usefulness of the attenuation of the S/HR relationship as a practical tool for exercise testing and training purposes in professional rugby players.PMID:38015477 | DOI:10.23736/S0022-4707.23.15151-6 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)

Short intermittent taekwondo test to assess athlete's physiological and metabolic profile
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings showed that SITT induces physiological responses like CPET suggesting that it can be used to assess aerobic power in national taekwondo athletes, thus helping coaches to select correctly training intensities and monitor athletes' aerobic performance along the training phases.PMID:37987711 | DOI:10.23736/S0022-4707.23.14972-3 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)
