Effect of maximal-intensity and high-intensity interval training on exercise capacity and Quality of Life in patients with acute myocardial infarction: a randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: Compared to HIIT and usual care, MIIT significantly increased the V̇O<inf>2max</inf> and was as safe as HIIT in patients with acute MI with low and moderate cardiac risk in CR. Additionally, MIIT and HIIT were superior to usual care in terms of improving the HRQoL.CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: Our results suggest that increased intensity in phase II CR could result in better outcomes in terms of V̇O<inf>2max</inf> increment in patients with acute MI and low and moderate cardiac risk in CR.PMID:37906165 | DOI:10.23736/S1973-9087.23.08094-2 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)

Scapular muscle endurance may improve shooting performance in air pistol shooters
CONCLUSIONS: In this study, core and shoulder girdle muscle endurances were not associated with shooting performance. Scapular muscle endurance may contribute positively to shooting performance. An exercise program to increase scapular muscles endurance can be beneficial for the performance of shooters.PMID:37902793 | DOI:10.23736/S0022-4707.23.14966-8 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)

Effects of Crossfit ® and street running practice on anthropometric, lipids parameters, cardiorespiratory fitness and sleep quality
CONCLUSIONS: The SR have a higher V̇O<inf>2max</inf> although they train less than the CF practitioners regardless of factors such as BF%, gender and age.PMID:37902797 | DOI:10.23736/S0022-4707.23.15205-4 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)

Effects of exhaustive whole-body exercise and caffeine ingestion on muscle contractile properties in healthy men
CONCLUSIONS: Exercise-induced decline in peripheral components of the EMD might be compensated by an increase in the muscle recruitment. In addition, acute caffeine ingestion had minimal influence on exercise-induced changes in muscle contractile proprieties.PMID:37902802 | DOI:10.23736/S0022-4707.23.15292-3 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)

Comparison of the effects of resistance, aerobic and mixed exercise on athlete's heart
CONCLUSIONS: Resistance exercise has a more dominant effect on ventricular thickness than aerobic exercise. In mixed exercise groups, this increase in thickness is similar to resistance exercise. The content of the training should be considered in the evaluation of the athlete's heart. Identifying the subgroups of the athlete's heart will be useful in the differentiation of pathologies and also in the follow-up of the athletes.PMID:37902808 | DOI:10.23736/S0022-4707.23.15446-6 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)

Molecular determinants of clinical outcomes of pembrolizumab in recurrent ovarian cancer: Exploratory analysis of KEYNOTE-100
CONCLUSIONS: This exploratory analysis in advanced ROC did not find evidence for associations between gene expression signatures and outcomes of pembrolizumab. mIHC analysis suggests CD11c+ and CD11c+/MHCII-/CD163-/CD68- phenotypes representing myeloid cell populations may be associated with improved outcomes with pembrolizumab in advanced ROC.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT02674061.PMID:37862791 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.09.012 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)

Pelvic irradiation for node-positive prostate cancer after prostatectomy: Long-term results of the prospective PLATIN-4 and PLATIN-5 trials
CONCLUSIONS: Salvage radiotherapy to the prostate bed and the pelvic lymphatic drainage combined with long-term ADT is a curative treatment option for patients with node-positive prostate cancer after RP with excellent infield disease control. PLNRT as field abutment after PBRT is feasible with long-term survival without suffering from high-grade toxicity.PMID:37863242 | DOI:10.1016/j.ijrobp.2023.10.009 (Source: Methods of Information in Medicine)
