Translation, Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the Standardized Cosmesis and Health Nasal Outcomes Survey in Japanese (J-SCHNOS)
Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular plastic surgery techniques. The evaluation of both functional and cosmetic aspects of rhinoplasty is essential for planning and assessing surgery results. The Standardized Cosmesis and Health Nasal Outcomes Survey (SCHNOS) is a validated questionnaire used to assess both functional and aesthetic symptoms in patients with nasal problems, and it has been translated in several languages. The purpose of this study was to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the SCHNOS in Japanese among patients undergoing rhinoplasty. “US Air Pollution and Increased Incidence of Non-Syndromic Cleft Lip/Palate” - Association does not Imply Causality
Cleft lip/palate (CLP) is a facial abnormality commonly managed by craniofacial surgeons that may be linked to an inherent genetic anomaly or categorized as a distinct and non-syndromic orofacial cleft (NSOFC). NSOFC comprises approximately 70 –75% of all instances involving cleft lip alone or cleft lip and palate in infants1. Tobacco exposure, genetic factors, alcohol use, and drug consumption are linked to the incidence of non-syndromic orofacial clefts (NSOFC), but the precise mechanism by which pollutants interfere with embryonic de velopment remains elusive. Isolated and Combined Breast Augmentation in Transgender Patients – Multi-Institutional Insights into Early Outcomes and Risk Factors
The increasing demand for gender-affirming surgery (GAS) in transgender and gender diverse healthcare highlights the importance of breast augmentation surgery (BAS) for transfeminine patients. Despite its significance, there is a lack of research on postoperative outcomes of BAS. (Source: Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery)

Anatomical Variant of The Superficial Temporal Artery in Temporoparietal Fascia Flap for Microtia Reconstruction
Single-stage microtia auricular reconstruction is becoming more relevant. The determining factor is a temporoparietal fascia flap (TPF) with both branches of the superficial temporal artery (STA). There are not many studies regarding vascular branching in microtia peoples. (Source: Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery)

Abdominal donor site complications following autologous breast reconstruction: A multi-institutional multi-surgeon study
The deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) free flap is the gold standard procedure for autologous breast reconstruction. While breast-related complications have been well described, donor site complications and contributing patient risk factors are poorly understood. Patient-reported and surgical outcomes of Profunda Artery Perforator (PAP) Flap Breast Reconstructions compared to Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator (DIEP) using BREAST-Q
Autologous breast reconstruction patients require thorough assessment, with the profunda femoris artery perforator flap (PAP) having become an important autologous reconstruction option alongside the deep inferior epigastric perforator flap (DIEP). Breast reconstruction impacts patients psychologically, physically and mentally. The BREAST-Q aids to assess patient reported outcomes measures (PROMs). We aim to critically compare post-operative clinical outcomes, aesthetic results, morbidity and patient satisfaction between DIEP and PAP patients, using clinical follow-up and PROMs. (Source: Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive ...

Prediction Model for Haematoma after Tissue Expander Placement: A Retrospective Cohort Study of 7,080 Cases Over 20 Years
Haematoma is an early complication of tissue expander placement and can lead to infection, capsule contracture, and various complications, hindering successful reconstruction. However, no scientific models can accurately predict the risk of haematoma following tissue expansion. Therefore, this study aimed to develop and validate a prediction model for haematoma following tissue expander placement. The medical records of patients who underwent expander placement between 2001 and 2021 were obtained from the clinical database of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Xijing Hospital. Effect of testosterone replacement therapy on scar quality in gender-affirming mastectomies
The term transgenders refer to people who sense discordance between their gender identity and the sex assigned to them at birth. Some transgenders receive hormonal therapy, which may lead to specific skin conditions. The purpose of the present study was to determine whether a causal relationship exists between hormonal therapy (specifically testosterone therapy) and unsatisfying surgical scarring, including hypertrophic and keloid scars. In addition, this study may serve as a basis for future studies, which may test means that aim to reduce such undesired effects. (Source: Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery)
