Outcome Measurement Instruments for Provoked Vulvodynia: A Systematic Review
Conclusions
There is a wide range of outcome measurement instruments used in provoked vulvodynia studies, resulting in inconsistency of reporting and difficulty in comparing and combining findings for systemic review. There is a pressing need for the development of validated, reliable instruments and consensus on a core outcome set for further research purposes. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Classic and Hypertrophic Vulvar Lichen Planus
Conclusions
Vulvar LP on keratinized skin has a diversity of appearances and presents a clinicopathologic challenge. Further research is required to understand the natural history of hypertrophic LP and the underlying diagnosis of nonspecific lichenoid cases. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Long-Term Outcomes of Women With Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis After a Course of Maintenance Antifungal Therapy
Conclusions
Although RVVC can be controlled, relapse is common after an initial course of maintenance fluconazole. Ongoing maintenance remains the most effective treatment option. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

5-Flouorouracil Is an Attractive Medical Treatment in Women With Vaginal Intraepithelial Neoplasia: A Meta-Analysis
Conclusions
This is the first meta-analysis to date to provide a convincing overview of 5-FU efficacy on the VaIN treatment. Albeit a medium risk of bias warrants some caution with interpretation of the results, 5-FU can be an attractive alternative to surgery, especially among young women with multifocal and recurrent disease. Colposcopy Evaluation at the Time of Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure May Avoid Unnecessary Treatment
Objective
The aim of the study was to assess the accuracy of colposcopy evaluation at the time of the loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) to identify women with a previous confirmatory diagnosis of squamous intraepithelial lesion/cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (SIL/CIN) with low probability of dysplasia in the LEEP specimen.
Materials and Methods
We prospectively recruited a cohort of 162 women undergoing LEEP for histological high-grade SIL/CIN 2–3 or low-grade SIL/CIN 1 with high-grade SIL cytology showing a fully visible squamocolumnar junction in the colposcopy evaluation at the time of LEEP. At t...

Cervical Cytology and Histology After Solid Organ Transplant: A Longitudinal Cohort Study
Objectives
The ideal frequency of cervical cancer screening in women with solid organ transplants (SOTs) remains to be determined. We aimed to assess the longitudinal rates of cytologic and histologic cervical abnormalities in women after SOT.
Methods
We retrospectively reviewed health records of women aged 18 to 60 years who received their first kidney, liver, pancreas, or combination transplant at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota) from 1995 through 2011. Patient demographics, cervical cytology and histology, and high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) testing data were abstracted. All women included in the study had...

The Variable Characteristics of Human Papillomavirus in Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Adenocarcinoma of Cervix in China
Objective
A hospital-based multicenter, retrospective study was conducted to compare the distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and cervical adenocarcinoma (CADC) in China.
Methods
Paraffin-embedded tissue blocks diagnosed as SCC and CADC across China were collected, as well as the total number of diagnosed invasive cervical cancer of the 9 selected centers. DNA enzyme immunoassay, reverse hybridization, and multiplex type-specific polymerase chain reaction were used for HPV genotyping.
Results
The ratios of CADC to SCC were increasing from 2005 to 2010, in parallel with HPV pre...

Impact of Acetic Acid on HPV Testing Using Hybrid Capture 2
Conclusions
The results of this study suggest that acetic acid at concentrations of 3% to 5% and sequential cervical sampling do not modify the result of HPV testing by Hybrid Capture 2. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Prevalence of Anal Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions in HIV-1–Infected Young Men Who Have Sex With Men and Transwomen
This study was performed to determine the prevalence of and factors associated with anal squamous intraepithelial lesions in sexually active HIV-infected young men who have sex with men and transgender women.
Materials and Methods
We performed a single-center, retrospective study of sexually active HIV-infected young men who have sex with men and transgender women aged 13 to 24 years at an HIV clinic in Atlanta GA from 2009 to 2016. We used analysis of variance and χ2 tests of independence to evaluate bivariate associations and identify demographic, behavioral, and clinical risk factors.
Results
Of 314 subjects with...

Risk Factors for Anal Dysplasia in Transgender Women: A Retrospective Chart Review
Conclusions
Because rates of HIV, dangerous sexual behaviors, and other risk factors for anal dysplasia continue to persist among TGW, this study reinforces the need to increase the focus on anal health in the care of TGW and the need for further research to guide patient care and anal dysplasia screening strategies among those individuals. Human Papillomavirus Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices, and Prevalence Among Men Who Have Sex With Men in Monrovia, Liberia
Objective
The aim of this study was to assess human papillomavirus (HPV) prevalence, knowledge, attitudes, and practices, among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Monrovia, Liberia.
Materials and Method
This cross-sectional study was conducted with 107 MSM, aged 18 to 58 years, completing questionnaires and anal HPV screenings. Using peer-educators and direct community involvement, demographics, risk factors, and HPV knowledge data were collected.
Results
Forty-eight participants (45%) were HPV positive and 21 participants (19.6%) self-identified as HIV positive. When examining HPV risk factors, 22 participants rep...

Human Papillomavirus Correlates With Histologic Anal High-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions in Hispanics With HIV
Conclusions
This study showed a strong association between anal HR-HPV infection and HSIL. Likewise, a high prevalence of anal HR-HPV infection and presence of anal SIL was observed among HIV-infected individuals. Our result highlights the importance of screening for anal HR-HPV infection and anal SIL and optimizing strategies for HPV vaccination in HIV-infected individuals.
