Group A Streptococcal Vulvitis in Adult Women: Clinical Features and Association With Psoriasis
Conclusions In most adult women, GAS vulvitis is associated with a vaginal infection that may be asymptomatic. A bilateral, oozing, and edematous or fissured erythema involving the vulvar or anovulvar area is suggestive of GAS vulvitis. The association with psoriasis and the benefits of screening household members and sexual partners deserves further attention. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Acupuncture Augmentation of Lidocaine for Provoked, Localized Vulvodynia: A Feasibility and Acceptability Study
Conclusions In this early-phase research, acupuncture augmentation of lidocaine was acceptable. The study procedures, with modifications, may be feasible for future investigation. Both acupuncture techniques showed a favorable effect; however, the contribution to pain relief is undetermined. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

The Clinical Utility of the Vulvar Pain Assessment Questionnaire: A Pilot Study
Conclusions Patients with vulvar pain often endure a lengthy process of consulting multiple clinicians before securing care. The VPAQscreen was more than 80% accurate in predicting diagnosis at this specialty clinic and was useful in assisting patients with expressing symptoms. The applicability of the VPAQscreen in general practice is unknown, although it shows promise. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Screening for Anal Cancer in Women With a History of Vulvar High-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions
Conclusions Women with vulvar HSIL have an increased risk of developing anal HSIL. Larger studies are needed to define optimal screening protocols as well as algorithms for management in high-risk populations. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Distribution of High-Risk Human Papillomavirus Genotypes and Multiple Infections in Preneoplastic and Neoplastic Cervical Lesions of Unvaccinated Women: A Cross-sectional Study
Objective The aim of the study was to investigate the distribution of high-risk (HR) human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes and the role of multiple infection in preneoplastic and neoplastic cervical lesions, according to histology, age, and the number of genotypes per infection. Materials and Methods Nine hundred eighty-eight women affected by known HPV-related cervical lesions and attending the European Institute of Oncology, Milan, Italy, from December 2006 to December 2014, were selected for a cross-sectional study. Prevalence of HPV genotypes was calculated by histology and the number of genotypes per infection. Un...

Effect of an Electronic Health Record Decision Support Alert to Decrease Excess Cervical Cancer Screening
Conclusions An EHR clinical decision support alert does not decrease guideline-nonadherent cervical cancer screening. These data suggest efforts to optimize clinical decision support should be focused on other aspects of cervical cancer prevention. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Low-Risk Human Papillomavirus Types in Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia 2–3 and in Invasive Cervical Cancer Patients
Conclusions The prevalence of the LR-HPV in high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion cervical lesions is low but is expected to increase in the future because of the expected decrease in CC caused by HPV types that are included in the bi-, quadri-, and nanovalent vaccine. The CIN 2–3 and CC patients with LR-HPV types and with negative HPV, challenge HPV screening sensitivity, which is based on a limited number of HR-HPV types. Key Determinants of the Value of Random Cervical Biopsy at Colposcopy
Objective The aim of the study was to assess whether lower proportions of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 2+ diagnosed by random biopsy are from lower cut points defining an abnormal colposcopic impression or obtaining only one random biopsy when colposcopic impression is normal. Methods We compared colposcopy experiences within Shanxi Province Cervical Cancer Screening Study (SPOCCS) (n = 1,383) and Shenzhen Cervical Cancer Screening Trial (SHENCCAST) (n = 631), which had instructive differences in the cut point defining an abnormal colposcopic impression. Results The proportion of CIN 2+ diagnosed by random bi...

Chlamydia Infection Among Digital Daters and Nondigital Daters
Conclusions Dating app users did not seem to have an increased risk of acquiring CT and for dating app users the seemingly well-established risk factor of having many partners was not valid. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

CD101 Topical Compared With Oral Fluconazole for Acute Vulvovaginal Candidiasis: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusions CD101 3% gel and CD101 6% ointment were well tolerated and produced similar rates of clinical and mycological cure in patients with an acute, moderate-to-severe episode of VVC. However, cure rates for these 2 formulations and regimens of CD101 were lower than those in patients treated with fluconazole. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Exploring Hygienic Behaviors and Vulvodynia
Conclusions Wearing tight-fitting jeans or pants and removing hair from the mons pubis area were associated with increased odds of vulvodynia. Research on how hygienic practices could influence vulvar pain in larger and more temporally addressed populations is warranted. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

Genomic Profiling of Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus Patients Shows Possible Pathogenetic Disease Mechanisms
Conclusions Although many providers may see a mother and daughter with vulvar LS, this condition is rarely seen in multiple family members who are available for genetic testing. This is the first report to detail genomic profiling related to a familial association of vulvar LS. (Source: Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease)

The Female Genital Self-image Scale in Adult Women With Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus
Objective There is no agreed upon standard way to measure vulvar lichen sclerosus disease severity. The Female Genital Self-Image Scale (FGSIS) is a validated survey tool assessing female genital self-image and is positively correlated with women's sexual function. A lower score represents a negative genital self-image. We evaluated the FGSIS in women with vulvar lichen sclerosus. Methods Women with biopsy-proven lichen sclerosus and women presenting for routine gynecologic care without lichen sclerosus matched by age were surveyed with the 7-item FGSIS. National surveys of healthy women in the United States have show...
