Reliability and validity of a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire: dietary intake assessment among multi-ethnic populations in Northwest China
CONCLUSIONS: The FFQ showed acceptable reproducibility and moderate relative validity for evaluating dietary intake among multi-ethnic groups in northwest China. It could be a credible nutritional screening tool for forthcoming epidemiological surveys of these populations.PMID:37858218 | PMC:PMC10585915 | DOI:10.1186/s41043-023-00452-9 (Source: Journal of Health, Population, and Nutrition)

Associations between body composition and cardiovascular disease risk in pre- and postmenopausal women
CONCLUSIONS: Both SBP and DBP are associated with FM and SMM in different ways among PrMW. This association, however, was not seen among PMW. FBS is associated with BMD only in PMW.PMID:37848999 | PMC:PMC10583431 | DOI:10.1186/s41043-023-00455-6 (Source: Journal of Health, Population, and Nutrition)

Evaluation of effectiveness of school-based nutrition education in improving the consumption of pulses-based food among female adolescents in Northwest Ethiopia: a cluster randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSION: Pulses-based nutrition education is effective in improving the consumption of pulses-based food among female adolescents. Therefore, policies and strategies are required to integrate this intervention in the school nutrition program.TRIAL REGISTRATION: The trial was registered in the Pan African Clinical Trials Registry (PACTR202111813445259) on 02 November 2021.PMID:37849015 | DOI:10.1186/s41043-023-00446-7 (Source: Journal of Health, Population, and Nutrition)

Dietary patterns and their socioeconomic factors of adherence among adults in urban Burkina Faso: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: This study population is at an early stage of the nutrition transition and shows low intakes of health-beneficial food groups. Yet, progress along the nutrition transition varies according to age, educational attainment, and economic status. Particularly, younger and well-off people seem to adhere more strongly to diets high in animal-based products. These findings can inform strategies in public health nutrition for sub-Saharan African populations.PMID:37817202 | PMC:PMC10566033 | DOI:10.1186/s41043-023-00451-w (Source: Journal of Health, Population, and Nutrition)
