Dietary patterns and their socioeconomic factors of adherence among adults in urban Burkina Faso: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: This study population is at an early stage of the nutrition transition and shows low intakes of health-beneficial food groups. Yet, progress along the nutrition transition varies according to age, educational attainment, and economic status. Particularly, younger and well-off people seem to adhere more strongly to diets high in animal-based products. These findings can inform strategies in public health nutrition for sub-Saharan African populations.PMID:37817202 | DOI:10.1186/s41043-023-00451-w (Source: Journal of Health, Population, and Nutrition)

Adherence to the Mediterranean diet regulates the association between osteopenia and the risk of all-cause mortality in general population
CONCLUSION: The adherence to the MD regulated the association between osteopenia and the risk of all-cause mortality, which suggested the importance of adherence to the MD in those with osteopenia, and the MD could be advocated in general people.PMID:37789482 | PMC:PMC10546794 | DOI:10.1186/s41043-023-00447-6 (Source: Journal of Health, Population, and Nutrition)

The effect of varicella-zoster virus reactivation on the long-term outcomes of patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
CONCLUSION: This is the first study to show that VZV reactivation following allo-HSCT is an independent predictor for lower relapse rates and improved OS, providing novel therapeutic approaches to improve patients' long-term survival following allo-HSCT.PMID:37784192 | PMC:PMC10544620 | DOI:10.1186/s41043-023-00429-8 (Source: Journal of Health, Population, and Nutrition)

Young adults' sought gratifications from, and perceptions of food advertising by, social media influencers: a qualitative approach
CONCLUSION: This study contributes to social media influencer marketing by identifying the factors that motivate young consumers to follow influencers, and it elucidates the extent to which young adults are exposed to food marketing, adding to the body of literature on food advertising.PMID:37752524 | PMC:PMC10521410 | DOI:10.1186/s41043-023-00449-4 (Source: Journal of Health, Population, and Nutrition)
