Yttrium-90 Radioembolization Therapy for Combined Hepatocellular and Cholangiocarcinoma
Conclusions: While outcomes of combined HCC-CC are poor and optimal treatment remains undefined, TARE appears to represent an effective locoregional treatment with survival outcomes similar to that of HCC treated by TARE.Gastrointest Tumors (Source: Gastrointestinal Tumors)

Evaluation of a Phone Call Reminder Strategy in the Surveillance of Patients with Gastric Precancerous Lesions Lost to Follow-Up
Conclusion: Despite several telephone calls, only one-third of the contacted patients could be brought to surveillance endoscopy. Most of the patients showed stability of GPL, but 1 progressed to GC and could be successfully treated.Gastrointest Tumors (Source: Gastrointestinal Tumors)

Non-Invasive Colorectal Cancer Screening: An Overview
Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) follows a protracted stepwise progression, from benign adenomas to malignant adenocarcinomas. If detected early, 90% of deaths are preventable. However, CRC is asymptomatic in its early-stage and arises sporadically within the population. Therefore, CRC screening is a public health priority.Summary: Faecal immunochemical test (FIT) is gradually replacing guaiac faecal occult blood test and is now the most commonly used screening tool for CRC screening program globally. However, FIT is still limited by the haemoglobin degradation and the intermittent bleeding patterns, so that one in four...

The Early Decline of α-Fetoprotein and Des-γ-Carboxy Prothrombin Predicts the Response of Hepatic Arterial Infusion Chemotherapy in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients
Conclusion: Optimal cutoff values for AFP and DCP ratios enable prediction of nonresponders to HAIC with LFP. This simple and early assessment method allows the use of HAIC and molecular targeting drugs for HCC treatment.Gastrointest Tumors 2020;7:83 –92 (Source: Gastrointestinal Tumors)

Primary Rectal Non-Hodgkin ’s Lymphoma Treated with Urgent Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy: A Case Report and Literature Review
We describe the case of a 49-year-old male from Bangladesh with the same presentation. His treatment was delayed for more than a month as immunohistochemistry and staging delayed the final diagnosis . The disease was diagnosed as stage IE with the help of a positron emission tomography (PET)-CT scan, and due to the local progression the patient had a massive rectal bleeding that needed an urgent intervention. Radiotherapy was applied to stop the bleeding. Hypofraction followed by a conventional fraction of external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) with a total of 40 Gy was applied. Post-EBRT digital rectal examination showed no re...

Polyp Detection Rate as a Surrogate for Adenoma and Sessile Serrated Adenoma/Polyp Detection Rates
Conclusions: ADQ and SSA/P-DQ values were consistent when over 500 procedures were analyzed. ADQ had an excellent correlation with ADR when #x3e;177 procedures per endoscopist were evaluated.Gastrointest Tumors 2020;7:74 –82 (Source: Gastrointestinal Tumors)

Changing Patterns of Hepatocellular Carcinoma after Treatment with Direct Antiviral Agents
Conclusion: The changing HCC pattern after DAA treatment may suggest the need for new HCC staging and treatment protocols.Gastrointest Tumors 2020;7:50 –59 (Source: Gastrointestinal Tumors)

Rare Treatment for a Rare Tumor: Cryoablation of a Granular Cell Tumor
Conclusion: Cryoablation can be used as an alternative to surgical intervention to treat malignant GCTs. This procedure is minimally invasive, less painful, and potentially effective in promoting antitumor immunity.Gastrointest Tumors 2020;7:41 –49 (Source: Gastrointestinal Tumors)

Presence of JC Polyomavirus in Nonneoplastic Inflamed Colon Mucosa and Primary and Metastatic Colorectal Cancer
Conclusions: The detection of JCPyV DNA at low copy numbers (lower than 1 viral copy per cell equivalent) and the absence of viral sequences in the corresponding primary tumors of the JCPyV-positive metastatic samples weaken the hypothesis of an etiological role of JCPyV in primary CRC induction.Gastrointest Tumors 2020;7:30 –40 (Source: Gastrointestinal Tumors)

The Efficacy and Safety of a Promising Single-Channel Endoscopic Closure Technique for Endoscopic Treatment-Related Artificial Ulcers: A Pilot Study
Conclusion: The SCCT could be applied in the treatment of artificial ulcers in several parts of the GI tract with a high clinical success rate and no complications. The SCCT appears to be a good option for closing artificial mucosal ulcers.Gastrointest Tumors 2020;7:21 –29 (Source: Gastrointestinal Tumors)

Aberrant Expression of Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors in Colorectal Cancer and Their Association with Cancer Progression and Prognosis
Conclusions: It was found that PPAR α and PPARδ were overexpressed while PPARγ was suppressed in CRC tumor tissues, and these deregulations are associated with cancer progression and poor prognosis.Gastrointest Tumors 2020;7:11 –20 (Source: Gastrointestinal Tumors)

Hepatocellular Carcinoma of Fibrolamellar Type in an Adolescent: Case Report and Literature Review
We present a female patient, 13 years old, with diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma of fibrolamellar type, which was rapidly evolving. The fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma invaded more than 80% of the hepatic parenchyma without surgical possibility or liver transplantation. Measures applied corresponded to chemotherapy of 1 cycle of cisplatin 40 mg/s/5 days + vincristine 1.5 mg/m2/day, 5-fluorouracil, doxorubicin, and dexrazoxane. The case presented aggressive evolution of hepatocellular carcinoma, which led to acute liver failure, with hyperammonemia, sepsis, pulmonary focus plus septic shock, grade III-IV encepha...
