Relapse and failure rates between CAD/CAM and conventional fixed retainers: a 2-year follow-up of a randomized controlled clinical trial
CONCLUSION: Within 2 years of fixed retention, CAD/CAM FRs showed significantly less relapse than lab-based and chairside FRs. However, there was no significant difference in failure rates among the groups.TRIAL REGISTRATION: NCT05915273.PMID:38168815 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad079 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)

The relationship between third molar agenesis and craniofacial morphology: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study suggest that third molar agenesis maybe associated with a reduced maxillary length and a flatter mandible. However, these findings need to be interpreted with caution due to inconsistencies in the certainty of evidence.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: PROSPERO (CRD42023448226).PMID:38168816 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad081 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)

The effectiveness of interventions in reducing pain related to orthodontic separation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The application of LLLT decreased the pain induced by the separation during the first day of teeth separation; the pain reduction showed an increase from 6 h to the end of the 24 h. However, the evidence is weak to moderate. The analgesics reduced the pain compared to placebo; this pain reduction had shown an increase from 6 h to the end of the 24 h. The strength of the evidence is moderate. Naproxen gel effectively reduced the pain compared to placebo; the evidence in this regard is moderate. Naproxen gel effectively reduced the pain compared to placebo, but it was less effective than the oral intake of non-s...

Biomechanical analysis of miniscrew-assisted molar distalization with clear aligners: a three-dimensional finite element study
CONCLUSIONS/IMPLICATIONS: The use of miniscrew anchorage, especially direct palatal miniscrew anchorage, may enhance the treatment efficacy of maxillary molar distalization with clear aligners, leading to increased molar distalization, reduced mesial movement of premolars, and minimized labial tipping of anterior teeth.PMID:38134411 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad077 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)
