Periodontal outcomes associated with impacted maxillary central incisor and canine teeth following surgical exposure and orthodontic alignment: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Limited evidence suggests that surgical exposure and orthodontic alignment of impacted maxillary central incisor or canine teeth, results in modest adverse effects in the periodontium. These findings should be viewed with caution as our certainty for these outcomes is very low to low due to the bias and heterogeneity. Further well-conducted studies reporting patient centred outcomes are required.REGISTRATION: PROSPERO (CRD42020225639).PMID:37643750 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad039 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)

PIEZO1 promotes ATP release from periodontal ligament cells following compression force
CONCLUSIONS: PIEZO1 on the cell membranes of HPdLFs is activated by compression force and then induces ATP release via intracellular Ca2+-dependent exocytosis and ATP-permeable channels.PMID:37632763 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad052 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)

Costs and duration of orthodontic-surgical treatment with mandibular advancement surgery
CONCLUSION: A 55% share of the costs is influenced by case- and operator-dependent factors. This indicates that the complexity and performance of the orthodontic phases of treatment are important determinants in the cost structure.PMID:37607274 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad051 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)

Effects of headgear timing on dental arch changes from 7 to 18 years of age: a follow-up study
CONCLUSIONS: Both genders benefited from earlier CHG treatment. The maxillary dental arches remained longer, and the final width was gained earlier in EG compared with LG.PMID:37607275 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad045 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)
