CAD/CAM-based 3D-printed and PVS indirect bonding jig system accuracy: a systematic review, meta-analysis, and comparative analysis of hard and soft CAD/CAM transfer trays
CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS: CAD/CAM transfer trays provide high bracket positioning accuracy, with soft transfer trays offering greater precision than rigid ones. Future randomized prospective trials are required to enhance the strength of the available evidence.REGISTRATION: Prospero (CRD42023401278 number).PMID:37977877 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad069 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)

Long-term radiographic and periodontal evaluations of the bone-grafted alveolar cleft region in young adults born with a UCLP
CONCLUSION: The teeth on the cleft side had high levels of gingival inflammation. Few pathological gingival pockets, however, were found. Shallow gingival recessions frequently occurred around the central incisor on the cleft side. Teeth in the bone-grafted cleft region generally had good bone support.PMID:37955939 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad064 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)

Effects of intraoral aging on mechanical properties of directly printed aligners vs. thermoformed aligners: an in vivo prospective investigation
CONCLUSIONS: Group DUR showed generally more favorable mechanical properties compared to DP and INV. The much higher RIT and EIT in DP aligners suggest their higher rigidity and force decay, which could compromise their clinical efficacy.PMID:37936263 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad063 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)

Will supplemental cone beam computed tomography change the treatment plan of impacted maxillary canines based on 2D radiography? A prospective clinical study
CONCLUSIONS: One-third of the canines had a change in treatment plan after supplemental CBCT examination. Canines with large alpha and lateral angles measured in the panoramic image were found to be significantly more likely to undergo changes in the initial direction of cantilever traction or changes to the canine extraction strategy following CBCT examination.PMID:37934968 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad062 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)

The skeletal and dental effects of Hanks Herbst versus twin block appliances for class II correction in growing patients: a randomized clinical trial
CONCLUSION: The TB appliance was associated with a higher rate of treatment discontinuation. No significant clinical differences were observed in the skeletal and dental effects, although the HH may be associated with more pronounced effects on the mandibular dentition.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: The protocol was registered online before the start of the trial (ISRCTN11717011).PMID:37930325 | DOI:10.1093/ejo/cjad065 (Source: European Journal of Orthodontics)
