Who is supporting the parents during their child's cancer treatment? A qualitative study through the lens of compassion
CONCLUSION: Safeguarding interpersonal and interparental understanding and closeness in parental care is essential. One way is building resilience and a broader human-to-human-based safety net around the family, including social networks and professional psychosocial support, advantageously using compassion.PMID:38490044 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejon.2024.102534 (Source: European Journal of Oncology Nursing)

A pragmatic qualitative study to explore women's and clinicians' experience of access to systemic anti-cancer therapies for the treatment of secondary breast cancer
CONCLUSION: Our study was the first of its kind to explore women and clinicians experience of geographic access to systemic anti-cancer therapies for the treatment of secondary breast cancer. Findings provided a greater understanding of distance decay and the influence of the health care system on treatment access. This included the importance and availability of clinical trials as a potential treatment option. This provided important insights and contributed to ongoing debate.PMID:38471325 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejon.2024.102515 (Source: European Journal of Oncology Nursing)

"Dancing on the edge of the abyss": Posttraumatic growth in men cancer survivors
Surviving cancer can lead to self-perceived beneficial changes and personal growth, commonly referred to as posttraumatic growth. However, the survivorship experience of men following cancer remains understudied. Thus, our objective was to obtain a comprehensive understanding of men's perceptions of the changes in their lives following cancer. (Source: European Journal of Oncology Nursing)

Survey of European Blood and Marrow Transplant (EBMT) nurses to explore the current topical skin management of chronic cutaneous graft versus host disease in the real-world clinical environment
CONCLUSIONS: Topical treatment is the backbone of any treatment paradigm for chronic cutaneous graft versus host disease, however, there is no universally agreed algorithm. Improved skin care may lead to a reduction in the amount of systemic therapy required, thus increasing patients' quality of life. There is little standardisation in the topical management of chronic cutaneous graft versus host disease, despite skin being the most cited organ affected by chronic graft versus host disease, this should be addressed.PMID:38467081 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejon.2024.102547 (Source: European Journal of Oncology Nursing)
