Family dynamics moderate the impact of discrimination on wellbeing for Latino young adults.
Conclusions: Family dynamics moderated the association between discrimination and both depression and life satisfaction in Latino youth. However, family dynamics did not appear sufficient to buffer against the negative impact of discrimination, suggesting that even positive and cohesive families cannot buffer youth from discrimination. Marginal findings suggest that negative family dynamics compound the negative impact of discrimination. Implications for improving the mental health of Latino youth through targeting both discrimination and family dynamics are discussed. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights res...
