Ocular signs and symptoms of orthokeratology patients associated with povidone iodine-based disinfecting solution
To determine the frequency and severity of ocular symptoms and signs in new orthokeratology (ortho-k) subjects using a povidone iodine (PI) disinfecting system compared to those present before lens wear, and whether these were associated with cleaning regimes. Short-term tolerability of commercial eyelid cleansers: A randomised crossover study
Blepharitis is a highly prevalent ophthalmic condition, which is characterised by chronic inflammation of the eyelid tissues [1]. The condition is recognised to have significant impacts on ocular comfort, visual function, and quality of life [2 –4]. The complex multifactorial pathophysiology of blepharitis is not fully understood [1,2], although ocular infestation with Demodex mites has been identified as a significant risk factor [5,6]. Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis infestation are usually observed in the eyelash follicles and meibomian glands, respectively [7–11], and can lead to structural obstruction, cel...

The effect of hydroxypropyl-guar nanoemulsion on signs and symptoms of dry eye
To examine the effect of hydroxypropyl-guar nanoemulsion (HP-Guar nanoemulsion, Alcon Laboratories Ltd, Fort Worth, TX, USA) versus saline (0.9% sodium chloride; Pfizer Inc., Bentley WA Australia) on the comfort and tear film properties of people with dry eye disease both in the short-term (up to 2  h post-drop instillation) and longer-term (after 4 weeks of 4-times daily use), and to examine the effect on tear inflammatory markers after 4 weeks. The clinical treatment of bacterial keratitis: A review of drop instillation regimes
Bacterial keratitis (BK) presentations are often treated using the commercially available second-generation fluoroquinolones ciprofloxacin 0.3% and ofloxacin 0.3% as monotherapy. The guidelines available for instillation regimes are often not supported by data from clinical studies. This review examines the peer-reviewed clinical studies and compared treatment failure rates for ciprofloxacin 0.3% and ofloxacin 0.3% for BK in relation to Day-1 drop-regimes. From the statistical analysis, this review derived evidence-based clinically applicable minimum drop-regimes for the treatment of BK on Day-1. (Source: Contact Lens and Anterior Eye)

Prevention of localized corneal hyperosmolarity spikes by soft-contact-lens wear
To determine whether localized hyperosmotic spikes on the pre-lens tear film (PrLTF) due to tear break up results in hyperosmotic spikes on the ocular surface during soft-contact-lens (SCL) wear and whether wear of SCLs can protect the cornea against PrLTF osmotic spikes. Outcomes of scleral lenses for dry eye disease in chronic ocular graft-versus-host disease
Ocular graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a common complication of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, seen in approximately 40% of patients [1]. Dry eye symptoms in ocular GVHD can be debilitating [2,3]. Despite initial measures such as frequent preservative-free lubrication, autologous serum drops, punctal occlusion, and topical steroids, symptoms can be refractory [4].
