The effect of the back optic zone diameter on the treatment zone area and axial elongation in orthokeratology
To investigate the influence of corneal parameters on the treatment zone area (TZA) after Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) with a 5.0-mm back optical zone diameter (BOZD) were worn and to compare changes in the axial length (AL) with traditional 6.0-mm BOZD lenses. The activity of antimicrobial peptoids against multidrug-resistant ocular pathogens
Ocular infections caused by antibiotic-resistant pathogens can result in partial or complete vision loss. The development of pan-resistant microbial strains poses a significant challenge for clinicians as there are limited antimicrobial options available. Synthetic peptoids, which are sequence-specific oligo-N-substituted glycines, offer potential as alternative antimicrobial agents to target multidrug-resistant bacteria. Assessment of dynamic corneal response parameters in Chinese patients of different ages with myopia and orthokeratology lenses using the Corvis ST
In 2019, the World Health Organization released its first World Report on Vision. According to this report, approximately 2.6 billion people are diagnosed with myopia worldwide. In addition, 312 million people under the age of 19 are myopic. In particular, the incidence of myopia continues to increase among children and adolescents. In China, as many as 700 million people were diagnosed with myopia in 2021, and primary and junior high schools have become the key age groups for myopia prevention and control in China [1]. BCLA Presidential Address 2023: Opportunities for growth in the contact lens sector
According to the 2023 Mintel report, the Optical Goods and Services industry in the UK is a thriving sector, worth approximately £3.7billion. The report predicts that this industry will continue to grow in the future, with a projected value of over £4billion in the next few years. However, despite the overall success of the industry, only 17% of this value is attributed to Contact Lens sales, worth £638million. [1] Will th e contact lens sector ever be a £1billion business? Unfortunately, it is expected that this particular segment of the industry will remain stagnant, which poses a significant challenge and does not o...

Settling characteristics of scleral lenses in Chinese adults with refractive error
In recent years, scleral lenses have gained popularity and emerged at the forefront in treating ocular diseases and restoring vision in irregular corneas[1 –4]. These lenses vault over the cornea and limbus and land on the bulbar conjunctiva, and a good scleral lens fitting should not touch the corneal surface, creating a tear reservoir under the lens. Therefore, the scleral lens can avoid contact with the corneal tissue, minimize the lens mobility o n the ocular surface, and reduce lens-to-eyelid interaction, increasing patient comfort[5].
