The effect of concentric and aspheric multifocal soft contact lenses on binocular vision in young adult myopes
Multifocal soft contact lenses (MFCLs) are prescribed to inhibit myopia progression; these include aspheric and concentric designs. The effects of MFCLs on visual quality, accommodation and vergence in young-adult myopes were evaluated. (Source: Contact Lens and Anterior Eye)

Dangers of uninformed soft contact lens selling and substitution recognised
All eye care practitioners know that contact lenses are medical devices that are prescribed for individuals based upon considerations such as the ocular physiology of the individual, refractive power, lens design, lens material properties, care solution composition, lifestyle considerations and affordability. Given this self-evident truth, the persistent notion among some uninformed individuals that soft contact lenses are all the same and can be freely interchanged and supplied by unqualified traders is a continuing cause for concern. Keratoconus: To conquer the cone
Keratoconus is the most common sight threatening non-inflammatory corneal ectasia affecting younger patients. In most cases the condition is bilateral and asymmetrical. At presentation, which is usually initiated due to diminishing best corrected VA, and an otherwise unexplained progression of astigmatic refractive error, primary care optometrists attribute a presumed diagnosis, based largely on the quality of the retinoscopy reflex. As the disease progresses alterations to the corneal profile, resulting in central stromal thinning, and a characteristic inferior corneal conical protrusion, appear. Keratoconus: An updated review
Keratoconus is a bilateral and asymmetric disease which results in progressive thinning and steeping of the cornea leading to irregular astigmatism and decreased visual acuity. Traditionally, the condition has been described as a noninflammatory disease; however, more recently it has been associated with ocular inflammation. Keratoconus normally develops in the second and third decades of life and progresses until the fourth decade. The condition affects all ethnicities and both sexes. The prevalence and incidence rates of keratoconus have been estimated to be between 0.2 and 4,790 per 100,000 persons and 1.5 and 25 cases ...
