Regulation and Use of Health Information Systems in Brazil and Abroad: Integrative Review
There is increasing debate about the importance of using information and communication technologies to strengthen health systems. Information systems are one of the most widespread technologies for this end in different healthcare contexts. The primary objective of this study was to highlight and discuss the main characteristics of the regulation and use of health information systems in Brazil and abroad. As a secondary objective, the main characteristics identified in Brazil were compared with the findings for other countries. A robust search strategy incorporated five electronic databases. The research question was defin...

Data Analytics for Diagnosis and Prediction of Central Line–Associated Bloodstream Infections in Critical Care Units
This study integrates several hospital data systems into a case-controlled database to use data analytics for the identification of significant central line–associated bloodstream infection risk factors and develop time-varying patient risk scores for central line–associated bloodstream infections. A case-control study was performed utilizing patient data collected from various sources then gathered and organized into a case-controlled dataset for analysis examining various patient-specific attributes for central line–associated bloodstream infections. Training and testing sets were created, and multivariate logistic...

Food Blogs to Family Meals: A Brief Evaluation of Blogs as Resources for Home Cooking During COVID-19
This study examined the quality and healthfulness of articles and recipes on food blogs to inform nurses, other health professionals, and patients using these as resources. Recipes from 50 blogs on Feedspot.com were analyzed for nutrient content and congruency of nutrition information. Of the 178 recipes, 5.6% were low calorie, 7.3% were low in total fat, 15.2% were low sodium, and 89.3% had ≤100 kcal of total sugar. Snack recipes contained significantly less mean sodium (P = .001), and 21% of blogs provided nutrition tips with incongruent or mixed congruency recommendations. Nurses, other health professionals, and consu...

Predicting COVID-19 Cases Among Nurses Using Artificial Neural Network Approach
We designed a forecasting model to determine which frontline health workers are most likely to be infected by COVID-19 among 220 nurses. We used multivariate regression analysis and different classification algorithms to assess the effect of several covariates, including exposure to COVID-19 patients, access to personal protective equipment, proper use of personal protective equipment, adherence to hand hygiene principles, stressfulness, and training on the risk of a nurse being infected. Access to personal protective equipment and training were associated with a 0.19- and 1.66-point lower score in being infected by COVID-...

Effectiveness of the Use of Animation and Gamification in Online Distance Education During Pandemic
This study was a randomized, controlled, prospective study implemented with 70 nursing students. The animation and gamification were applied to the experimental group. Data were collected using the “Diabetes Nursing Knowledge Test,” “Instructional Materials Motivation Survey,” and “Opinion Form on Diabetes Education Supported by Digital Instruments.” There was a statistical difference between the Diabetes Nursing knowledge scores of the groups after the course (P (Source: CIN: Computers, Informatics, Nursing)

E-MunDiabetes: A Mobile Application for Nursing Students on Diabetes Education During the COVID-19 Pandemic
This study describes the development and validation of a mobile application for nursing students on diabetes education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The application was developed by a certified diabetes educator nurse and by a freelance programmer and, in the next step, validated in terms of content and appearance by a group of expert nurses on diabetes (n = 29), nursing students (n = 40), and information technology experts (n = 11). Validity indexes of 0.99 for content and 0.92 for appearance were obtained, and usability values of 78.9 (±15.3) and 78.2 (±10.8) were obtained from nursing and information technology expert...

Development of an Electronic Medical Tool to Facilitate Allocation of Limited Resources in Times of Crisis
In conclusion, the instrument was easy to use, and the concordance among raters was good but not perfect. Predicted life expectance was a major determinant of the triage score. (Source: CIN: Computers, Informatics, Nursing)

A Pilot Study to Investigate the Role of Virtual Reality in the Preservice Training of Nursing Staff in Isolation Wards
This study aimed to explore the experience of utilizing virtual reality for isolation ward training among nurses. In this study, nurses completed virtual reality training via an online platform and were then trained in isolation wards, after which their perceptions were explored by questionnaire and interviews. A total of 1868 participants completed the training. Most participants thought the preservice training was important and believed the virtual reality experience was consistent with the in-person training. Virtual reality was found not only to be convenient and valuable for training but also to have the benefits of o...

Effect of Using a Technology-Based (Mobile Health) Nursing Protocol on Positive COVID-19 Patients' Dyspnea and Level of Activity
Nursing faced a challenge in caring for COVID-19 patients in terms of keeping their chests clear from secretions, which required much effort from already-exhausted patients, along with the tasks of minimizing dyspnea and cough, strengthening immunity status, and improving their activity levels. The present study aimed to evaluate improvement of dyspnea and activity levels after 1 week of applying a mobile health nursing protocol for positive COVID-19 patients. The study was conducted in quarantine hospitals in Cairo on 90 COVID-19–positive patients who agreed to participate in the study, were fully conscious, were themse...
