Rapidly Progressive Lung Sarcomatoid Carcinoma Managed with Doxorubicin Plus Ifosfamide and Pemetrexed
We report the case of a 69-year-old male diagnosed with PSC who was managed with doxorubicin plus ifosfamide and pemetrexed therapy. Our patient initially responded to the therapy but had rapid progression and died 8 months after the initiation of treatment. Upon genetic analysis, it was revealed the patient had overexpression of the MDM2 protein, which has been associated with poor response to therapy. This case highlights the need for a personalized treatment approach, as well as the need for a standardized treatment regimen for managing PSC.Case Rep Oncol 2021;14:1677 –1681 (Source: Case Reports in Oncology)

Postrenal Azotemia in a Gastric Cancer Patient Revealed the Coincidence of Ureteral Metastasis and Contralateral Ureteral Stone: A Case Report
Metastatic ureteral masses are not rare, but isolated ureteral metastasis from the origin of gastric cancer is rare. Ureteral metastasis is usually unilateral and does not lead to postrenal azotemia unless in single kidney patients. Herein, we describe an 80-year-old man with a history of nonmetastatic gastric cancer who presented with postrenal azotemia due to the coincidence of right distal ureteral metastasis and left distal ureteral stone.Case Rep Oncol 2021;14:1662 –1666 (Source: Case Reports in Oncology)

A Case of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer with Germline Pathogenic Variants in Both < b > < i > BRCA1 < /i > < /b > and < b > < i > BRCA2 < /i > < /b >
We report a rare case of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome (HBOC) with pathogenic variants in bothBRCA1 andBRCA2. The patient was a 78-year-old woman who visited the hospital after noticing a lump in her left breast 6 months before, which gradually increased in size. According to her family history, her maternal aunt developed breast cancer in her 40s. On palpation, a 4-cm large mass was palpated in the upper outer part of the left breast. A needle biopsy revealed invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast, which was negative for estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth factor receptor ...

Synchronous Development of Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukaemia and Disseminated Melanoma following Treatment of a Germ Cell Tumour: A Case Report
We report a case of a 38-year-old male who had recently completed treatment for a mediastinal germ cell tumour with teratomatous components. He presented several months after completion of chemotherapy with metastatic lesions in his spine and liver accompanied with severe pancytopenia. He was subsequently diagnosed with acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia (AMKL), and a biopsy of a liver lesion was consistent with metastatic melanoma. This case illustrates the simultaneous development of 2 rare malignant entities: mediastinal germ cell tumour-associated AMKL and somatic malignant transformation to melanoma. It also highlights ...

A Case of Multiple Liver Metastases after Surgery in Elderly HER2-Positive Breast Cancer in Which Anastrozole + Trastuzumab Was Ineffective but T-DM1 Was Effective
Chemotherapy is often difficult to treat human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive metastatic recurrent breast cancer in the elderly, and no standard treatment has been established at this point. We experienced a case in which trastuzumab (Tmab) + anastrozole (ANA) was ineffective (progressive disease; PD) in elderly HER2-positive breast cancer with postoperative multiple liver metastases, but T-DM1 was significantly effective (complete response; CR), and treatment could be continued safely. An 82-year-old woman was referred to our department with a right breast mass. A close examination revealed right breas...

Nivolumab-Induced Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency
Immunotherapy is increasingly gaining applicability for several malignancies. While the survival of several malignancies has dramatically improved, immune-related adverse events (irAEs) can occur and can cause severe damage to patients. Side effects such as colitis are well known nowadays; however, with increased use of immunotherapy, less common side effects should also be addressed. In this article, 2 patients that received nivolumab developed exocrine dysfunction of the pancreas. Endocrine dysfunction has been well known, but exocrine dysfunction is less often described. It is important to be aware of this side effect b...
