Bone Metastasis of Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer Showing Pathological Complete Response to Osimertinib Monotherapy
A 70-year-old man with lung adenocarcinoma had undergone right lower lobectomy and lymph node dissection. Only 6 months later under adjuvant uracil and futraful therapy, the patient developed a solitary bone metastasis in the right 8th rib. Due to positive mutation of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exon 21 L858R in the primary cancer, the patient received osimertinib monotherapy, leading to massive calcification of the osteolytic bone metastasis with significant decrease of standard uptake value on positron emission tomography. After 12 months of osimertinib monotherapy, slight enlargement of the ground glass nodu...

A Rare Case of a Metastatic Malignant Abrikossoff Tumor
We report here the case of a 75-year-old male who presented a local recurrence of Abrikossoff tumor of the left thigh. The anatomopathological analysis concluded to a malignant GCT, and the F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography showed multiple lesions in the lymph nodes and bones. The potential conversion to malignancy should alert practitioners because of the extremely poor prognosis. The diagnosis of malignant granular cell tumor should be based on a bundle of clinical and histological features and not solely on histologic features because of the challenging distinction between malignant and benign tumors ...

Acute Cardiac Tamponade Secondary to Cardiac Vascular-Type Pleomorphic Leiomyosarcoma: Case Report
We present the clinical case of 2 patients (a 42-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man) with a diagnosis of arterial pleomorphic leiomyosarcoma that conditioned cardiac tamponade as the initial manifestation . As it is an exceptionally rare neoplasm and with few cases reported in the literature, it is important to identify and describe this pathology which, due to the impossibility of offering surgical treatment, represents a therapeutic challenge.Case Rep Oncol 2021;14:1860 –1867 (Source: Case Reports in Oncology)

Bortezomib-Induced Perimyocarditis in a Multiple Myeloma Patient: A Case Report
Bortezomib (BTZ) is a proteasome inhibitor used in the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM) and other hematological malignancies. Although carfilzomib, a second-generation proteasome inhibitor, is most strongly associated with cardiotoxicity, BTZ has been associated with several cardiovascular complications including congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and rarely myocarditis. Here, we report the first case of a BTZ-induced perimyocarditis. The patient was a 40-year-old woman with recently diagnosed MM who was admitted to the hospital with syncope at the start of her second cycle of induction therapy with BTZ, lenalidomide...

A Case of Recurrent Ovarian Cancer and Therapy-Related Acute Myeloid Leukemia Treated with Azacitidine
We present a case of tAML that developed during chemotherapy for treating active ovarian cancer. The patient presented with thrombocytopenia that was initially suggested to be chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia. The patient was not a candidate for HSCT because of active cancer. However, she was able to receive azacitidine because her ovarian cancer responded well to chemotherapy. Pancytopenia is a common symptom of both chemotherapy-induced bone marrow suppression and tMDS/AML; thus, it may be difficult to distinguish between them at the first presentation. Given the prediction that the tMDS/AML incidence will increase ...

Isolated Leptomeningeal Progression in a Patient with NTRK Fusion+ Uterine Sarcoma: A Case Report
We present a 29-year-old woman who was diagnosed withNTRK3-SPECC1L fusion+ undifferentiated uterine sarcoma and underwent resection, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Two years later, lung metastases were discovered. She was started on larotrectinib with complete response. She remained stable on larotrectinib until she presented with altered mental status and seizures. MRI demonstrated leptomeningeal enhancement, but because leptomeningeal progression from sarcoma is exceedingly rare and her symptoms improved dramatically with antiepileptics, these findings were initially attributed to seizures. After 2 unrevealing lumbar pu...

An Uncommon Recurrent Metastasis of Ovarian Immature Teratoma to the Small Bowel
In this study, we report, for the first time, a rare case of a recurrent ovarian immature teratoma with mature deposits in the small bowel. An incidental pelvi-abdominal mass was identified in a 30-year-old pregnant patient during antenatal ultrasonography. The mass, which was resected through salpingo-oopherectomy, was histopathologically characterized as an immature teratoma of grade 2 and treated with 3 cycles of chemotherapy. After 3 years of completing treatment, the patient suffered from severe anemia which was investigated by capsule endoscopy that identified a bleeding source in the ileum. Imaging studies revealed ...

Successful Response to Cyclophosphamide, Vincristine, and Dacarbazine Chemotherapy in a Patient with Metastatic Carotid Body Paraganglioma
Carotid body paraganglioma is a rare neuroendocrine tumor presenting with low-grade histological and clinical features. However, the tumor has the potential to produce distant metastasis, and due to its rarity, little information is available regarding chemotherapy for such metastatic lesions. Here, we report a case of carotid body paraganglioma with development of pulmonary and bone metastases 10 years after radical surgery for the primary lesion in the neck. The lesions showed a good response to cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and dacarbazine chemotherapy. A beneficial therapeutic outcome by chemotherapy is extremely rare...

Report on Unusual Sites of Lymph Node Metastases in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is amongst the most common malignancies of head and neck cancers. Most patients are admitted to the hospital with advanced disease. NPC has a tendency toward early metastatic spread to cervical lymph nodes, and levels II and III are most commonly involved. A few reports have indicated specific metastatic sites of nasopharyngeal cancer, including lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis. Evidence of histopathology and immunohistochemistry is required to prove NPC origin. In many cases, surgery can be performed to obtain accurate evidence of the pathology. However, surgery can also affect t...

Occult Disseminated Metastatic Breast Carcinoma Presenting as Acquired Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura
We present a patient who had been treated for invasive lobular breast carcinoma in clinical remission with fever and hemolytic anemia. The peripheral blood film showed MAHA and thrombocytopenia, and a functional deficiency of ADAMTS13 activity of 23% consistent with acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. Bone marrow aspirate and trephine biopsy confirmed metastatic carcinoma. Further evaluation revealed the involvement of multiple bone sites without recurrence of the primary tumor. The patient received a daily plasma exchange with cryosupernatant and was pulsed with corticosteroids. MAHA related to breast cancer app...

Concurrent Paraneoplastic Dermatomyositis and Acquired C1 Esterase Inhibitor Deficiency in Primary Laryngeal Small Cell Carcinoma
We report a case of a 42-year-old female who presented with primary laryngeal small cell carcinoma associated with concurrent paraneoplastic dermatomyositis and paraneoplastic angioedema secondary to acquired C1 esterase inhibitor deficiency. The patient required extensive treatment for her dermatomyositis including high-dose corticosteroid therapy and intravenous immunoglobulin followed by steroid-sparing disease-modifying immunosuppression. Her angioedema also required multiple lines of therapy including bradykinin inhibitors and human recombinant C1 esterase. We believe this is the first reported case of either of these...

Paraneoplastic Cerebellar Degeneration with Anti-CV2/CRMP5 Antibodies in Ovarian Cancer: Case Report and Review of the Literature
We report a case of a 62-year-old female diagnosed with ovarian cancer who in the course of her disease developed neurological symptoms associated with cerebellar degeneration. After ruling out differential diagnoses such as metastases, a PNS was suspected and studied, in which anti-CV2/CRMP5 antibodies were positive. With her clinical presentation, radiological features, autoantibody positivity on cerebrospinal fluid, and an underlying oncological disease, cerebellar degeneration was diagnosed. The pathophysiology of PNS is not fully understood; therefore, its diagnosis and management are complex. Diagnosis is based on cl...

So-Called Serous Carcinoma of the Uterine Cervix with < b > < i > BRCA2 < /i > < /b > Mutation: Case Report and Review of the Literature
We describe the case of a patient with a carcinoma categorized as stage IVB SCUC, initially treated with carboplatin, paclitaxel, and bevacizumab, followed by maintenance with bevacizumab. After locoregional progression, radiotherapy was administered. Unfortunately, further progression was observed, and carboplatin was resumed. Considering the presence of aBRCA2 mutation as detected by NGS, treatment with a PARP inhibitor (olaparib) was decided and allowed disease control for 6 months. We believe thatBRCA mutation may be systematically searched in patients suffering from carcinomas formerly referred to as SCUC and that tar...

Neuroendocrine Tumor of the Common Bile Duct: Case Report
We report a case of a 12-year-old Mexican woman with neuroendocrine tumor of the extrahepatic bile duct (common bile duct neuroendocrine tumor) seen in our hospital. Resection of the common bile duct, cholecystectomy, end to side Roux-en-y hepaticojejunostomy, and portal lymphadenectomy was performed. A review of the pertinent literature was performed. Given the rarity of the disease, treatment principles are based mainly on retrospective series and case reports. We present the eighth case in adolescence in the literature.Case Rep Oncol 2021;14:1785 –1791 (Source: Case Reports in Oncology)

Radical Radiation Therapy for Radiation-Induced Angiosarcoma with Local Control
We report a case of unresectable radiation-induced angiosarcoma after breast cancer surgery that responded remarkably to radical radiotherapy alone. A 78-year-old Japanese female had a large mass in her right breast that was diagnosed as angiosarcoma after biopsy and considered to be a radiation-induced angiosarcoma because the patient had been treated with postoperative irradiation to the right breast cancer 8 years earlier. There were no findings suggestive of lymphadenopathy or distant metastasis. Since the tumor was widely infiltrated to the skin and the muscle layer, radical radiotherapy (total dose 66 Gy) was perform...
