Is There Any Correlation between Spread of Excitation Width and the Refractory Properties of the Auditory Nerve in Cochlear Implant Users?
Conclusion: There was a correlation between SOE width and t0 only in patients with acquired deafness. The findings suggest that different factors influence SOE and REC, considering SOE is different according to the electrode array and REC being different according the onset of deafness.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)

Fifteen-Year Follow-Up of Stapedotomy Patients: Audiological Outcomes and Associated Factors in a Middle Income Country
Conclusions: Stapedotomy surgery provides short-, medium-, and long-term hearing benefits in our studied cohort. ABG, AC, and BC thresholds obtained after the surgery are clinically preserved in 5-, 10-, and 15-year follow-ups, with an age-expected BC deterioration. Smaller preoperative ABG and younger age were positive predictors for better postoperative ABG. Future research should address long-term subjective and quality of life outcomes.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)

Analysis of Click and Swept-Tone Auditory Brainstem Response Results for Moderate and Severe Sensorineural Hearing Loss
Conclusion: Swept-tone improves the ABR waveforms and helps to obtain more accurate threshold to some extent. Therefore, the proposed swept-tone ABR may provide a new solution for better morphology of ABR waveform, which can help to make more accurate diagnosis about the hearing functionality in the clinic.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)

Changes in Tinnitus by Cochlear Implantation: A Parametric Study of the Effect of Single-Electrode Stimulation
Conclusion: In conclusion, the effect of single-electrode stimulation on tinnitus is relatively insignificant in comparison to the effect of full-array stimulation. However, in some individual cases, sustained single-electrode stimulation may be beneficial for tinnitus management.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)

How Long Is Otosclerosis Surgery Effective? Hearing Results after a 22-Year Follow-Up
Conclusions: This is, to our knowledge, the longest mean follow-up time in the literature. A mild decrease in both AC and BC threshold can be expected and the sensorineural decay is more pronounced on the high frequencies. The subjective hearing symptoms and overall sound perception are satisfactory.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)

Influence of Semicircular Canal Dehiscence on Cochlear Implant Outcome
Conclusions: CI outcome is comparable between recipients without and with SCD. Specifically, hearing preservation rate and word perception ability in the electric-only condition seem not affected by SCD. The rate of progress of word perception ability in the first 12 months after cochlear implantation is not influenced by SCD.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)

Effect of Cochlear Implantation on Hearing Fluctuation in Patients with Biallelic < b > < i > SLC26A4 < /i > < /b > Variants
Conclusion: In patients with biallelicSLC26A4 variants, cochlear implantation may reduce the frequency and extent of hearing fluctuations.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)

A New Pathogenic Variant in the TRIOBP Associated with Profound Deafness Is Remediable with Cochlear Implantation
Conclusions: Implant outcomes are better with normal inner ear anatomy in general. The earlier congenital patients are implanted, the better their outcomes. Here, we demonstrate both statements are true in a homozygous c.1342C #x3e; T p. (Arg448*) pathogenic variant in theTRIOBP gene in all 3 affected siblings.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)

Acceptance and Benefits of Electro-Acoustic Stimulation for Conventional-Length Electrode Arrays
Conclusions: EAS use is dependent on audiologic and nonaudiologic issues. Hearing preservation is possible with conventional electrodes, but hearing preservation alone does not guarantee superior speech perception.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)

Systematic Review of Quality of Life Assessments after Cochlear Implantation in Older Adults
Cochlear implants (CI) have increasingly been adopted in older adults with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss as a result of the growing and aging world population. Consequently, researchers have recently shown great interest in the cost-effectiveness of cochlear implantation and its effect on quality of life (QoL) in older CI users. Therefore, a systematic review and critical evaluation of the available literature on QoL in older adult CI users was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Studies were selected by searching MEDLINE (PubMed...

Fibrovascular Tumor-Like Lesions of the Facial Nerve
Conclusions: Fibrovascular lesions of the FN may mimic primary FNTs, especially schwannomas and hemangiomas. Surgical excision with grafting or nerve transfer is the procedure of choice if a complete facial paralysis is found. This unusual condition should be considered when counseling patients with FN lesions. The lack of hyperintensity on MRI T2-weighted images may suggest the presence of fibrous tissue.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)

Detailed Analysis of the Space between the Semicircular Canals for the Purpose of Direct Bone Conduction Stimulation of the Inner Ear
Conclusions: The bone between the crura of the superior SC is the best placement to screw the BC implant directly to the otic capsule. The implant direction should be parallel to the plane of the lateral SC. This location, the direction, and the limitation of the screw length of the BC implant to a maximum of 7 mm present the lowest potential risk of damage to the inner ear.Audiol Neurotol (Source: Audiology and Neurotology)
