Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA microaerophilic, mesophilic, chemoorganoheterotrophic bacterium, designated Y-P2T, was isolated from oil sludge enrichment in China. Cells of the strain were Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped or slightly curved with 0.8-3.0 µm in length and 0.4-0.6 µm in diameter. The strain Y-P2T grew optimally at 25 °C (range from 15 to 30 °C) and pH 7.0 (range from pH 6.0 to 7.5) without NaCl. The major cellular fatty acids were C16:0, summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c), summed feature 8 (C...

Description of Flavobacterium agricola sp. nov., an auxin producing bacterium isolated from paddy field
Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek. 2023 Oct 14. doi: 10.1007/s10482-023-01891-4. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAn auxin-producing bacterial strain, CC-SYL302T, was isolated from paddy soil in Taiwan and identified using a polyphasic taxonomic approach. The cells were observed to be aerobic, non-motile, non-spore-forming rods, and tested positive for catalase and oxidase. Produced carotenoid but flexirubin-type pigments were absent. Optimal growth of strain CC-SYL302T was observed at 25 °C, pH 7.0, and with 2% (w/v) NaCl present. Based on analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences, it was determined that strain CC-SYL302T belongs to the ge...

In this study, we reported a Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, atrichous, and aerobic bacterial strain named YMD87T, which was isolated from the intertidal zone sediment of Chinese Yellow Sea. Growth of strain YMD87T occurred at 10.0-40.0 °C (optimum, 25-30 °C), pH 4.0-12.0 (optimum, 8.0) and with 0-6.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0.0-2.0%). Phylogenetic tree analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that strain YMD87T belonged to the genus Tropicibacter and was closely related to Tropicibacter alexandrii LMIT003T (97.2% sequence similarity). Genomic analysis indicated that strain YMD87T contains a circular chromosome ...

Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek. 2023 Oct 7. doi: 10.1007/s10482-023-01884-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe present study used genome-based approaches to investigate the taxonomic relationship between Kitasatospora cineracea DSM 44780T and Kitasatospora niigatensis DSM 44781T, two species that were previously described by Tajima et al. (Int J Syst Evol Microbiol 51:1765-1771, 2001). The digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH), average amino acid identity (AAI), and average nucleotide identity (ANI) values between the genomes of the two type strains were 90.3, 98.7, and 99.1%, respectively. These values exceeded the established th...

Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek. 2023 Sep 29. doi: 10.1007/s10482-023-01889-y. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA novel species of the genus Emticicia, designated BHSR1T, was isolated from a water sample that was collected from the Nakdong River, Republic of Korea, and its taxonomic affiliation was studied using a polyphasic approach. This bacterium was Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, aerobic, curved, rod-shaped, and oxidase- and catalase-negative. The bacterium grew optimally at 37 °C, pH 7.5 and 0% (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain BHSR1T should be affiliated with the genus E...

Fluviispira vulneris sp. nov., isolated from human wound secretions
In this study, we reported a new environmental pathogen. Isolate GX5518T was a novel Gram-negative, aerobic, non-motile, pleomorphic and red-pigmented bacterium, was isolated from human wound secretions (GuangXi, People's Republic of China). Growth occurred at pH 6.0-8.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and 10-37 °C (optimum, 28-32 °C) with 0-1.5% (w/v) NaCl in R2A agar. Comparative analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that isolate GX5518T was closely related to Fluviispira sanaruensis JCM 31447T (99.73%) and Fluviispira multicolorata 33A1-SZDPT (98.49%). However, the estimated ANI values of the isolate GX5518T compared to ...
