Assessment of TLL1 variant and risk of hepatocellular carcinoma in Latin Americans and Europeans
CONCLUSIONS: We found no evidence that the TLL1 rs17047200 AT/TT genotype is a risk factor for HCC development in Latin Americans or Europeans. A larger study integrating ethnic and etiology backgrounds is needed to determine the importance of the TLL1 SNP in HCC development.PMID:37981236 | DOI:10.1016/j.aohep.2023.101181 (Source: Annals of Hepatology)

Liquid biopsy: New opportunities for precision medicine in hepatocellular carcinoma care
Ann Hepatol. 2023 Nov 14:101176. doi: 10.1016/j.aohep.2023.101176. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLiquid biopsy, specifically the analysis of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a non-invasive approach for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) diagnosis and management. However, its implementation in the clinical setting is difficult due to challenges such as low ctDNA yield and difficulty in understanding the mutation signals from background noise. This review highlights the crucial role of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing these limitations and in improving discoveries in the field of liquid biopsy for HCC care. Combini...

Non-linear associations of circulating total bilirubin concentration with the risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and all-cause mortality
CONCLUSIONS: We found that higher circulating total bilirubin concentration within the physiological range was associated with decreased risk of NAFLD and all-cause mortality among NAFLD patients.PMID:37924867 | DOI:10.1016/j.aohep.2023.101177 (Source: Annals of Hepatology)
