A clinical review of congenital hepatic fibrosis diagnosed in adulthood: presentation, complications, and outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: CHF should be considered when patients present with cholangitis and/or complications of portal hypertension and have a cirrhotic appearing liver and renal cysts on imaging. Depending upon the disease severity, interventions such as TIPS or LT may be required.PMID:37802414 | DOI:10.1016/j.aohep.2023.101164 (Source: Annals of Hepatology)

TCD assessment in fulminant hepatic failure: improvements in cerebral autoregulation after liver transplantation
CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that CA impairment pretransplant and on the 1st day posttransplant was re-established at 48-72 hours after transplantation. These findings can help to improve the management of this patient group during these specific phases, thereby avoiding neurological complications, such as brain swelling and intracranial hypertension.PMID:37802415 | DOI:10.1016/j.aohep.2023.101167 (Source: Annals of Hepatology)

Cavin1 activates the Wnt/ β-catenin pathway to influence the proliferation and migration of hepatocellular carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: Cavin1 suppresses HCC progression by modulating HCC proliferation and migration via inhibiting the Wnt/β-catenin axis activation.PMID:37774837 | DOI:10.1016/j.aohep.2023.101160 (Source: Annals of Hepatology)

Prevalence of occult hepatitis B virus infection and characterisation of hepatitis B surface antigen mutants among adults in western Croatia
CONCLUSIONS: We detected multiple known and novel S gene mutations in 2/12 (16.6%) OBI cases, nevertheless, further studies are required to determine their role in the pathogenesis of OBI. Understanding the frequencies of clinically relevant HBV mutations may contribute to improvement of diagnostic protocols.PMID:37758118 | DOI:10.1016/j.aohep.2023.101156 (Source: Annals of Hepatology)
