Evaluation of pharmaceutical practice in hospitals: an exploratory study comparing processes in France and Quebec
CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the evaluation processes of pharmaceutical practice in hospitals. In France as in Quebec, we recognize the importance of the drug circuit in the hospital, the development and operation of a pharmacy department and the practice of pharmacy. While there are more similarities for the assessment of the drug circuit in hospitals and pharmacy department, important differences are observed for the assessment of individuals. We believe that the publication of a comparative analysis can contribute to discussions and exchanges to benefit from the best practices of each country.PMID:38367934 | DOI:1...

Antioxidant and Anti-Arthritic Activity of Bombax buonopozense P. Beauv. Leaves
CONCLUSION: Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, and phenolics. The brine shrimp lethality assay of the crude extract and fractions gave LC50 value ≥ 1000 µg/mL, compared to Cyclophosphamide (LC50 = 224.7±0.35µg/mL). The BBME had TPC value of 19.8±0.56 mg GAE/g, while the TFC of ethyl acetate fraction was the highest (173.5±0.05 mg QE/g). The ethyl acetate fraction has the highest antioxidant activity (IC50 = 20.96±0.23 µg/mL) as compared to ascorbic acid (2.8±0.01) and rutin (20.6±9.26 µg/mL). BBME significantly reduced the paw circumference. BBME (400 mg/kg) prevented bioche...

Despite the efficacy of conventional chemotherapy, medication resistance and adverse effects limit its effectiveness, leading researchers to explore alternative treatments, including herbal remedies. Saffron, a well-known spice derived from the Crocus sativus L. plant, has shown potential as a BC treatment. The active components of saffron exhibit a...

Anthocyanin: A Potential Phytochemical Candidate for the Amelioration of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Ann Pharm Fr. 2024 Feb 12:S0003-4509(24)00023-3. doi: 10.1016/j.pharma.2024.02.005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is described by too much hepatic fat deposition causing steatosis, which further develops into nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), defined by necroinflammation and fibrosis, progressing further to hepatic cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and liver failure. NAFLD is linked to different aspects of the metabolic syndrome like obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, and dyslipidemia, and its pathogenesis involves several elements including diet, obesity, disruption o...

Review of the pharmacological properties of marine macroalgae used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus in Indonesia
This study provides a comprehensive dataset of pharmacological antidiabetic potential of marine macroalgae used for managing DM and reports on preclinical trials that provide pharmacological evidence. Data on the Indonesian marine macroalgae used to lower blood glucose were obtained from online sources. The bioactive chemicals of marine macroalgae have been found efficient at blocking several diabetes enzymes in in-vivo and in-vitro studies, and such chemicals have anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, antioxidant, and other therapeutic benefits. The Google Scholar was used to search for the pharmacological literature with the ...
