Trace level quantification of N-Nitrosorasagiline in Rasagiline tablets by LC-TQ-MS/MS
Ann Pharm Fr. 2024 Mar 26:S0003-4509(24)00041-5. doi: 10.1016/j.pharma.2024.03.006. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTParkinson's disease is a chronic, progressive neurological disease that currently affects about more than 10 million population worldwide. Rasagiline is a selective, irreversible monoamine oxidase type B inhibitor used as monotherapy in early Parkinson's disease. Rasagiline tablets have been recalled from market due to the presence of unacceptable levels of nitrosamine impurity. European medical agency has set up very stringent limit 100 ng/day of N-nitrosorasagiline (NSRG) in drug product based on its mutageni...

Biomolecular interactions between Plasmodium and human host: A basis of targeted antimalarial therapy
Ann Pharm Fr. 2024 Mar 20:S0003-4509(24)00040-3. doi: 10.1016/j.pharma.2024.03.005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMalaria is one of the serious health concerns worldwide as it remains a clinical challenge due to the complex life cycle of the malaria parasite and the morphological changes it undergoes during infection. The malaria parasite multiplies rapidly and spreads in the population by changing its alternative hosts. These various morphological stages of the parasite in the human host cause clinical symptoms (anemia, fever, and coma). These symptoms arise due to the preprogrammed biology of the parasite in response to ...

Urinary cytomegalovirus excretion: the unresolved issues
Ann Pharm Fr. 2024 Mar 14:S0003-4509(24)00039-7. doi: 10.1016/j.pharma.2024.03.004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCytomegalovirus (CMV) excretion in urine is frequently observed in clinical practice. However, the specific circumstances and pathophysiological mechanisms underlying this shedding remain largely unknown. Here, we address some of the key questions regarding urinary CMV excretion, focusing on new hypotheses raised by recent advances in the field. Cellular origins of CMV shedding, clinical contexts of occurrence, systemic spread of the virus versus compartmentalization in the urinary tract, and clinical impact ar...

Novel HPTLC method for simultaneous estimation from ternary mixture of chlorpheniramine maleate, dextromethorphan hydrobromide and phenylephrine hydrochloride in syrup formulations
CONCLUSION: The proposed method was complying for the analytical method validation parameters suggested by the ICH Q2 (R1) guideline. The method was found to be simple, rapid and reliable for the simultaneous estimation of CPM, DEXO and PE from its pharmaceutical syrup dosage form. The method was successfully applied to quantify these analytes from the several pharmaceutical syrup dosage form.PMID:38485086 | DOI:10.1016/j.pharma.2024.03.001 (Source: Annales Pharmaceutiques Francaises)

Monitoring student skills during community pharmacy placements: retrospective analysis of dashboards
CONCLUSIONS: Our work shows the contribution of the professional practice placement dashboard in monitoring student progress. The analysis carried out reveals different levels of mastery at the start of the placement and different levels of progress depending on the skills. It also reveals the contribution made by the intervention on the content of the placement, particularly in terms of the acquisition of certain skills, especially those related to new tasks such as conducting pharmaceutical interviews.PMID:38485087 | DOI:10.1016/j.pharma.2024.03.002 (Source: Annales Pharmaceutiques Francaises)
