A Case Study of Puerperal Group A Streptococcal Infection Complicated by Toxic Shock Syndrome
We present the case of a 32-year-old Para 2 reporting severe left distal lower extremity pain, fevers, and chills at 1 week following an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. The patient's clinical status rapidly decompensated to septic shock requiring transfer to the intensive care unit. She underwent anterior and lateral compartment fasciotomy of the left lower extremity for concerns of possible necrotizing soft tissue infection. Final blood cultures confirmed GAS infection with unclear primary source, though endometritis was favored. She required additional orthopaedic procedures including an arthroscopy with washout for cont...

Postnatal Amelioration of Fetal Right Ventricular Hypoplasia Associated with Large Eustachian Valve: A Case Report
We report a fetal case of postnatal amelioration of the tricuspid valve and right ventricle hypoplasia, despite significant right ventricular hypoplasia associated with a large Eustachian valve. Application of an appropriate respiratory management regimen to help reduce pulmonary vascular resistance is of particular importance for the reversal of the right-to-left shunt via the foramen ovale and associated increases in right ventricular inflow. Deciduoma, a Large Intrauterine Mass of Deciduosis
AJP Rep 2019; 09: e337-e340 DOI: 10.1055/s-0039-1697647Deciduosis is the presence of ectopic decidual tissue outside the uterus, pelvic, or abdominal organs usually associated with pregnancy. It usually presents as smaller lesions but can be larger vascular lesions. Typically, these masses are detected incidentally during operative procedures. Our patient was referred at 14 weeks for a large intrauterine mass detected on ultrasound examination that was initially thought to be an acardiac twin. The mass was highly vascularized. However, since the patient was asymptomatic, she strongly desired to continue the pregnancy. The ...
