The short-term effect of hemodialysis on the level of high-sensitive cardiac troponin T - A systematic review
CONCLUSION: In this systematic review, we found LF-HD to increase the hs-cTnT concentration and HDF to decrease the concentration. Results for HF-HD and unspecified HD are more heterogeneous. Because of the differences between the included studies, a meta-analysis was not meaningful. This systematic review can help with the assessment of patients with ESRD suspected of ACS in relation to hemodialysis/HDF treatment.PMID:37779378 | DOI:10.1111/sdi.13178 (Source: Seminars in Dialysis)

Evaluation of factors affecting treatment and mortality in patients over 65 years of age and without chronic disease, followed in the Intensive Care Unit due to COVID-19
CONCLUSIONS: We think that our study is valuable in terms of determining the most appropriate treatment strategies by following the patients in terms of parameters that are significant in the findings during their follow-up period in the Intensive Care Unit.PMID:37750658 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202309_33590 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Effects of nutritional supplementation stabilizing muscle mass loss in older patients on hemodiafiltration
Malnutrition is common in older individuals with end-stage renal disease on maintenance dialysis. Whether nutritional supplementation may improve skeletal muscle mass (SMM) and survival rate in this population is uncertain. We aimed to analyze the effect of a year of nutritional supplementation on muscle mass and survival rate in older patients on hemodiafiltration. (Source: Clinical Nutrition ESPEN)

A Case of Hypercalcemic Crisis Due to Parathyroid Adenoma Improved by Continuous Hemodialysis with A Common Calcium Concentration Dialysate: Discussion of Therapeutic Management
Intern Med. 2023 Sep 8. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.1764-23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA hypercalcemic crisis due to primary hyperparathyroidism is a life-threatening condition. We herein report a 71-years-old man with hypercalcemic crisis due to primary hyperparathyroidism with parathyroid adenoma. Generally, hemodialysis or continuous hemodiafiltration using calcium-free or low-calcium dialysate is performed early for hypercalcemic crisis. In this case, continuous hemodialysis with a common calcium concentration dialysate improved the hypercalcemic crisis, and parathyroidectomy was performed. The patient recovered ...
