Thoughts on CHIP Fellowship!
Hi,
I was recently exposed to a CHIP fellowship program at one of the largest hospital in the northeast which got me excited. Can anyone share more thoughts on it, difference between a general IC and CHIP in terms of the complexity, lifestyle, opportunities and pay. I'm trying to get more insight on the pros & cons and if it's worth pursuing that route (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pritzker vs Hopkins
Just got the call from Hopkins and have a few days to decide! Currently planned to enroll at UChicago.
My goals: I want to match into a top internal medicine program and also have a fun, meaningful experience in medical school
Pritzker:
(++) Loved Revisit and the warm/friendly vibes of the school. When I was on campus in April, I had a feeling in my gut and in my heart that I’d find a home here.
(++) Love Chicago as a city, can imagine exploring different neighborhoods and swimming in...

how much is this job worth?
We are currently in the process of negotiating a salary increase with our hospital
Job:
hospital employed W2
semi-rural midwest
100% supervision 3:1/4:1
Wide case mix including peds, hearts (separate team), complex OB, many blocks
14-16 weeks vacation
18000 ASA units/year/FTE (we are very busy when we are at work)
Current salary in mid 500s, heart guys make about 100k more
Our argument is that although salary and vacation is good for a hospital employed position, we are highly...

What do you think of cardiothoracic fellowships?
Is this a field you would go into?
What are the best fellowship programs out there for it? Especially looking for a program with high pay, very low scut work, and very little to no call. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Are we better than cardiologists at reading EKGs?
I've realized over the years that I read an inordinate amount of EKGs throughout my shifts. Alot of these are ordered out in triage and unecessary in my opinion but we still have to read them. I wondered if with all of these reads this makes us more competent than any other specialty in reading EKGs. I would assume a cardiologist doesn't order an EKG on every single patient in the clinic. Obviously it's difficult to make a statement that just because we read more we are therefore better...
