Celiac Disease: recheck antibodies after successful treatment?
If you diagnose an antibody-positive Celiac disease, treat it (with just a gluten free diet), patient returns in 6 months feeling a lot better (essentially asymptomatic, all other deficiencies resolved) . . . .do you recheck the celiac antibodies? (anti transglutaminase, anti gliadin etc). Why would you? [It was suggested to me that they should be rechecked, to 'confirm' that your intervention, the glutenfree diet, worked. So, today is the last day of class for my BS in Psychology. Over the past few years, I feel I have realized my strengths and weaknesses. Though I came out wanting to be a clinical psychologist, I know it isn't me. Therefore, I have the tendency to shop at Whole Foods and at local farmer markets, and it gets... How to live comfortably in medical school? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Gluten free? Anybody know anything?
I did a search and it doesn't look like there are any topics regarding this... Where I am in California 'Gluten free' is an extremely hot thing. I've done some research and haven't found a ton of data so have sort of assumed it was a fad and people were feeling a placebo effect or felt better because cutting out gluten changed other parts of their diet and they attributed the better health to being gluten free. But then I started dating someone who is incredibly healthy, vegan and very focused on eating right.... and she's been recommending I try less gluten as it's supposed to be an inflammatory. I don't mind trying it,...
