Sexual Health for Transgender and Gender Diverse Individuals
Gynecologists play a critical role in the office evaluation of transgender and gender diverse individuals. This includes the provision of essential healthcare services including the treatment and prevention of human immunodeficiency virus and sexually-transmitted infections and screening for human papillomavirus infection-related diseases and cancers. Caring for patients who identify as transgender or gender diverse (TGD) and who have undergone gender-affirming surgical treatments is challenging due in part to clinical gaps in knowledge resulting from insufficient training and educational resources. A patient-centered appr...

HPV DNA Testing and Mobile Colposcopy for Cervical Precancer Screening in HIV Positive Women: A Comparison Between Two Settings in Ghana and Recommendation for Screening
CONCLUSIONS: There is a high prevalence of hr-HPV among WLHIV in both rural and urban settings in this study in Ghana. Concurrent HPV DNA testing with a visual inspection method (colposcopy/VIA) reduces loss to follow-up compared to performing HPV DNA testing as a standalone test and recalling hr-HPV positive women for follow up with a visual inspection method. Concurrent HPV DNA testing and a visual inspection method may also pick up precancerous cervical lesions that are hr-HPV negative and may be missed if HPV DNA testing is performed alone.PMID:38563112 | DOI:10.1177/10732748241244678 (Source: Cancer Control)

Human papillomavirus circulating tumor DNA: a diagnostic tool in squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary —a pilot study
DiscussionctHPVDNA demonstrated good diagnostic accuracy for both known and unknown primaries. Incorporation of ctHPVDNA into the diagnostic algorithm for SCCUP may reduce the need for multiple procedures to establish HPV status. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

A case report: recurrent anemia related to long term acyclovir use in a pregnant HIV infected Ugandan
Abstract: This case report describes a pregnant patient with recent diagnosis of Human Immuno-Deficiency Virus (HIV) infection initiated on Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) in the second trimester, as well as high dose acyclovir high for large infected genital warts. She had no other HIV related opportunistic infections, and no prior anti tuberculosis treatment or preventive medication. Despite little response to acyclovir, patient was continuing on acyclovir for over 4 months. She subsequently developed recurrent anemia requiring frequent transfusion (14 units in total) over a 6-week period. On stopping acyclovir, the anemia ...

5. Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Uptake in Adolescent Survivors of Bone Marrow Transplant
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States and can lead to cervical, oropharyngeal, and anogenital dysplasia and malignancy. Vaccination against HPV is recommended for all adolescents but is particularly important in patients with a history of bone marrow transplant (BMT) as they can have higher rates of persistent HPV-related disease or secondary cancers. Because of lost or reduced immunity after BMT, patients who previously received the vaccine must be re-vaccinated after transplant. (Source: Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology)

Alterations of UHRF family Expression and was regulated by High Risk Type HPV16 in Uterine Cervical Cancer
In this study, we analyzed the UHRF family expression in cervical cancers, and it's regulation by human papillomavirus (HPV). Western blotting was performed to analyze protein expression in cervical cancer cell lines. Immunohistochemical analysis were used to investigate the expression of UHRF family and MIB-1 in cervical cancer tissues. Transfection were done for analyze the relationship between UHRF family and HPVs. We showed that NIRF expression was decreased and ICBP90 expression was increased in cervical cancers compared to normal counterparts. Western blotting also showed that NIRF expression was quite low levels, bu...
