How Hospitals Could Step in to Help Manage GP Practices
The supply of doctors in primary care, known as ' GPs ' in the UK, is falling behind a growing demand for their services, as GPs leave general practice in large numbers. One way to help struggling GP practices could be vertical integration—combining health care organizations operating at different stages along the patient pathway. (Source: The RAND Blog)

Primary Care Networks in a Time of Pandemic

9 Technologies That Will Shape The Future Of Dentistry
One of the most common childhood fears is going to the dentist. Who would not relate? Sitting in a huge chair illuminated by blinding light; enduring lengthy seated sessions with someone looking and poking inside your mouth using edgy and frightening devices. And finally, when the torture is over, that same someone tells you not to eat your favourite sweets and instructs you to brush your teeth regularly.  We’ve all been through this as a kid and childhood memories stick with us; just recalling this might send a shiver down your spine. No one likes to go to the dentist in spite of the fact that everyone knows how crucia...

The hardly hidden costs
Chronic/persistent pain management is not sexy. No-one gets a magic cure. Lives are not saved – at least not in a way that mortality statistics show. Chronic pain management is under-funded. And now: buried in a list of other proposed service cuts in the local health board’s plan to save millions of dollars, is a proposal to “save” $650,000 from the pain clinic. You’ll note also reductions in community services, GP support for vulnerable, and healthy lifestyles programmes. https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/122558278/hundreds-of-staff-nurses-and-services-may-be-axed-at-canterbury-d...
