Declining Vet School
Hi everyone, I applied to vet school this past cycle after working in general practice as an assistant/tech for over two years and I got in to my top school which I am so proud of! However, I'm thinking I may be declining the offers I got and taking a different career path. I've weighed my options again and again, gone through pros and cons, but this is still one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. Context: through my experience in practice, I realized that I do not want to be... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

BWH abdo fellowship
Hey! I am a Canadian radiology resident interested in applying to this program next year. Wondering what the reputation is like or if anyone has heard positive/negative things. I think it seems great though my only concern is that some of the procedures highlighted on their web page are quite advanced (RFA, cryo), which are skills I would never use in my future general practice. Vet School Uncertainty
Hi everyone, I got accepted into my top school! I want to preface by saying that I am so grateful for this, but I think that I am getting cold feet. I decided in college that this was the path that I wanted to take and from there I gained a ton of experience in different areas of the field and I love it. Working in general practice, specifically, has been by far the most rewarding job I have ever had, despite the cons of vet med that we all know about. However, I'm nervous that I won't be... Is research experience necessary for getting into residency?
Hello, I'm a fresh D1 who is either interested in general practice, or if gratefully given a chance to specialize, ortho (only interested specialty). I did well in first semester, and of course there's no guarantee it will stay like that, but I just want to continue doing my best each day to keep more options open later. I read somewhere that I have to 1) own a private practice at some point in life, or 2) at least specialize if I want to make descent income. However, I know nothing about... Reality Check: Why are there so many posts on SDN about OMFS specifically?
I think this might be an elephant in the room that doesn't get talked about in real terms... out of all the dental specialties and general practice, what is it about OMFS that generates so much buzz on SDN? My thought is the following and I'd love to hear opposing viewpoints or start a discussion: Dental students yearn to become oral surgeons because it is supposedly the highest paying specialty, it gives them a chance to flex on their classmates and future colleagues because it is a... Minnesota (IS) vs Marquette (OOS)
I am deciding between minnesota and marquette. The cost is pretty similar as far as I know. Although if anyone could fill me in on the total cost of attendance for each school I wold really appreciate it. Also, do either of these schools give out many scholarships? My biggest priorities choosing a school are cost and how prepared/competent I will be after graduating. Do either of these schools have a leg up on the other in terms of how ready their graduates are for general practice righ... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
