New Information Dissolves Illusions About Vaccines—And They’re All Illusions
Conclusion Even if you believe vaccines are safe, Dissolving Illusions should make it crystal clear that they are not necessary. If they are not necessary, why do our children receive more than four dozen by the time they go to school? There are only so many possible explanations. I suppose some doctors still believe in them. After all, they’ve been indoctrinated since they first set foot in medical school. Big Pharma is a powerful—not to mention rich—force. And I guess it’s possible that the FDA, CDC, and other agencies believe the “studies” they see quoted. After all, the statistics are skewed to say whatever...

The Healthful Vegan Diet
‘Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food.’ ~Hippocrates By Leo Babauta Eat plants. Those two words are the best things I’ve learned about diet, and if you stick to that, you’re likely be pretty healthy. That said, eating a vegan diet (no animal products) doesn’t necessarily equate to a healthy diet, despite what many believe. Yes, vegans on average are healthier and leaner than the average person. But that’s an average — there are unhealthy vegans. How is that possible? You can eat lots of sweets, fried foods, processed foods, foods with white flour (br...

The Pickle (Lover) Has Landed
By Jan Chait Pickles. Yum. Sweet pickles. Dill pickles. Bread and butter pickles. Half sours. Pickled eggs, pickled garlic, and pickled okra (not all at the same time). Yep. I'm home. Got back last Friday afternoon. My refrigerator already had pickles in it — although not all of the above. It will, by the end of the week, have pickled eggs in it, however. One of my nurses told me he'd never seen a pickle on a patient's tray at the hospital I was in. Then why do they put pickles on the menu? Why do hospitals do a lot of things? I had to request a chair so I could stop lounging around in bed and sit like a grown-up. S...

Count Down - Day 9
I am day 9 of my count until the day of nasty needles. I can't wait. that tells you how much pain I have been in if I can't wait to be sedated and stuck with  numerous needles into my spine.I am on am opiate pain patch that provides 10 mcg/hr of pain meds. Chopped Salad for Better Nutrition
My Aunt Bridie and Uncle Frank from Galway, Ireland introduced me to the chopped salad this spring. I’ve always loved salad and never thought that a salad could be so delicious and magical, so boy was I surprised when I ate their chopped salad. Here’s the most exciting part: a chopped salad delivers far more nutrition than a regular salad. The reason is by chopping it you make more of the nutrients available for your body to absorb. When we chew salad we do a woeful job of actually tearing it apart enough to glean all the nutritional benefits. The other reason why this chopped salad is more nutritious is becaus...

Comin' Home
Yep, this is exactly what Crabby looks like creating culinary magic in her kitchen! What does it mean to be "home?"  And what the heck does that question have to do with health and fitness? Oh, and speaking of home, we've also got a bit of blog "housekeeping" to catch up on, like announcing giveaway winners and other stuff. So Where Does Crabby Call Home?  As it happens, home is a somewhat confusing concept for me. Supportive and patient Cranketeers may recall that the Crab and Lobster live on two different coasts; half the year in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego, CA and the other half the year we sp...
