Evaluation of the seroprevalence and the demographic and clinical findings of fascioliasis patients in the Dicle River Basin in Turkey: a nine-year experience at a university hospital
CONCLUSIONS: According to the epidemiological classification for fascioliasis by Mas-Coma, the Dicle Basin, which is the setting of this study, is indeed a hyperendemic region. Thus, ELISA is a reliable and specific method of diagnosing fascioliasis, both in the early phase and in the acute phase, when the eggs are no longer seen in the stool.PMID:38039011 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202311_34449 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Brief report first report of the in vitro ovicidal activity of camel milk and its fractions on zoonotic-liver fluke (Fasciola gigantica) eggs
AbstractFasciola gigantica is one of the worldwide parasites that cause livestock and human illnesses. Chemotherapy is now the primary therapeutic option for its treatment. Drug abuse has led to the emergence of drug-resistant strains. As a result, there is an urgent need to discover natural and efficient anthelmintics againstFasciola spp. The study aims to evaluate the ovicidal activities of camel milk and its fractions onF. gigantica eggs. In the in vitro assay ofF. gigantica eggs were submitted to different concentrations (0.5% and 1%) of camel milk fractions; Camel Milk Whey (CMW), Camel Milk Casein (CMC), and Skimmed ...

Glycan complexity and heterogeneity of glycoproteins in somatic extracts and secretome of the infective stage of the helminth Fasciola hepatica
This study opens many avenues to understand glycan biology of F. hepatica throughout its life-stages, as well as other helminth parasites, and allows us to probe the glycosylation of individual NEJs proteins in the search for innovative diagnostics and vaccines against fascioliasis.PMID:37993102 | DOI:10.1016/j.mcpro.2023.100684 (Source: Molecular and Cellular Proteomics : MCP)
